Other reports of this type are listed here:

21st November 2017

3rd Dec 2017 - 12th Dec 2017 - 19th Dec 2017 - 26th Dec 2017

4th January 2018

1. Vote Counts

The following SQL query has been used to extract this data:

image.png

Total number of votes given in the past 7 days: 967. This is 51% decrease over the previous week in which this data was gathered in this way - Week ending 4th Jan 2018 - 1968 votes cast.

Daily average number of votes: 138 (281 for the previous week analysed above)

Total number of votes given in the past 30 days: 7023. Total at previous analysis: 5582

Daily average: 234

Total number of votes given since 28th September (170 days) - first project vote: 31732

Daily average: 187

Using the following as a guide, we can view the total number of votes each week since the project began:

weeknumbers.png

Total Votes each calendar week

image.png

As we can see, @utopian-io started slowly last year, and not until calendar week 46 did the number of votes cross 500 over the 7 days included.

The number of votes each week then rose sharply moving into December and January (week 53 can be ignored and the votes moved into week 52 and week 1 of 2018), and peaked in week 2 of 2018 with over 3000 votes cast.

Although the current calendar week has not ended, we can look at the first set of data and see that only 1044 votes have been cast in the past 7 days, and so the total for the 11th week of 2018 is predicted to be at around 1300 votes.

This is a noticeable reduction in the number of votes (successful contributions) since the highs of January.

2. Votes and Reputation

The vote count is on the vertical axis, and the reputation range on the horizontal axis.

Votes across Reputation over the past 7 days

To extract this data, the following SQL query has been used:

image.png

Note the user reputation is taken from the 'Comments' table and therefore is the reputation of the use at the time the content was submitted.

image.png

The reputations receiving the most votes are between 53 and 55, and the average reputation across the dataset is 53.0

Votes across Reputation over the past 30 days

image.png

The average reputation here is 55.9 and the reputation receiving the most votes is between 53 and 54.

Votes across Reputation since 28th September 2017 (first vote)

image.png

The average reputation here is 54.3 and the reputation with the most votes is between 52 and 53.

The full data range shows an average that is in between the past 7 days and the past month. This implies that initially the reputations of the contributors to utopian-io were lower than those over the past month and makes sense as many contributors make more than one submission, and their reputation rises accordingly with the vote.

And so it could be expected then that the previous weeks' average reputation receiving a vote would be higher than the past months', but this is not the case.

Therefore, this suggests that there are still a number of 'new' contributors joining utopian-io and that these accounts are being supported.

3. Vote Weight and Reputation

The vote weight is on the vertical axis, and the reputation range on the horizontal axis.

Weight (Strength) of votes cast across reputation over the past 7 days

To extract this data, the following SQL query has been used:

image.png

Note: the vote weight is now being calculated to the 100th of a Percent. e.g. 2.37%

image.png

The most popular weight of vote over the past week has been in the range of 2 - 4%, and the most common contributor reputation is in the 50-60 range.

The lowest reputation receiving a vote is 0 at 4.45%, and the highest reputation with a vote is 70 (the highest vote weight being 30.11%).

The highest vote weight in the past week was 37.64%.

Weight (Strength) of votes cast across Reputation over the past 30 days

image.png

In the 30 day chart, the vote weight range is 1.07% to 37.64%.

The most common vote is for a reputation between 50-60 with a weight between 1 and 5%.

Weight (Strength) of votes cast across Reputation since 28th September (first vote)

image.png

This chart, with data from project inception date, provides a look back at how popular 100% votes were from utopian-io in the first month or so of the project.

Of course, these 100% votes were at a point when the Steem Power held by @utopian-io was a lot lower, and the number of contributions to vote on each day was also much less.

4. Analysis and Summary

The number of average daily votes is much lower than recent weeks and months gone by. This has had a knock on effect to the weight of vote given by @utopian-io for the contributions made and more recently, the weight of votes has been much larger and had the backing of a lot more Steem Power, than when 100% votes were being given near the beginning of the project.

The average reputation of a the contributor at contribution date is 54.3 across the lifetime of voting but averages at 53.0 in the past week.

This shows a constant influx of new authors for @utopian-io, who are looking to contribute and build their reputation here.

Vote weight has sensibly be adjusted in line with the recent fall in the amount of contributions submitted and this has meant those contributing to the currently accepted categories are receiving a healthy vote.

Overall, I think @utopian-io are using their Steem Power delegation appropriately. Rules are constantly being adjusted to reduce foul play and meet guidelines recommended by 3rd parties.

And at this point in time, the future looks bright for utopian-io, and this analysis is happy to be involved.

5. Tools used to gather this report

The data is sourced from SteemSQL - A publicly available SQL database with all the blockchain data held with (Data is normally close to 'live')

The SQL queries to extra to the data have been produced in both SQL Server Personal Edition and LINQPAD 5.

The charts used to present the data were produced using MS Excel.

This data was compiled on the 17th March 2018 at 8am (UCT)

Thanks

Following the production of this analysis, a review of the data referenced has shown some inaccuracies in the author_reputation which is tied to the row in the comments table.

Further analysis has shown that the reputations in this post are likely to average lower if the reputation at the time of the posts analysed, in SteemSQL was 100% accurate.

This analysis is therefore a guide to 'reputation at time of post'.

Yet another dope analysis. With all these analysis generated with the SQL software. I feel it's a bit of a difficult task but the way you use it frequently suggests that it is quite an easy software to use but I still can't wrap my head around it.

Always a big fan of your Analysis dear @abh12345. @utopian-io is the open source project and really serving the community in true spirit. Great efforts, keep it up!

Thanks for the excellent analysis. I look, the black bar touched and utopian-io. Good luck to you.

Thanks for the hard work of yours buddy :)

Gathering up all the info in one place :)

This post I also find very useful. It seems to be best to upvote everything between reputation 50 and 60. Although I wonder if this is not partly because most Steemonians just have such a reputation?

Upvoting reputations below 40 seems to be a bad plan.

Cheers :)

Not done one of these for a while - they are a pain in the ass.

40 reps can gain votes from utopian-io just as easy as 70s - you just need to have a plan :)
