"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

That, was the scripture that was encouraged to the Mikhalai School of Destiny kids when they asked how moon cakes tasted, and wished they had a chance to taste it.

As Malaysia is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural country, we have many celebrations; and one of the biggest celebration by the Chinese community in Malaysia is the Mid Autumn Festival (a.k.a Moon Festival) where moon cakes is one of the famous desserts for it.

You can't celebrate it without a moon cake.

In folk lore, this festival was celebrated for the immortal princess who took the pill of immortality and then flew to the moon; but the moon cakes, they have a different twist - with history.

Mooncakes were used by the Ming revolutionaries in their effort to overthrow the Mongolian rulers of China at the end of the Yuan dynasty. The idea is said to have been conceived by Zhu Yuanzhang and his advisor Liu Bowen, who circulated a rumor that a deadly plague of "Hóuzi chuánwěi jíbìng de" was spreading and that the only way to prevent it was to eat special mooncakes, which would instantly revive and give special powers to the user. This prompted the quick distribution of mooncakes. The mooncakes contained a secret message coordinating the Han Chinese revolt on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month.

But to the kids, it's a sweet, sweet dessert nonetheless.

Interestingly, right after the prayers, (which we didn't know), one of our volunteers William just so happened to meet up with a mooncake supplier and they were convinced to donate off their mooncakes to the kids and the needy while they are yet to expire instead of throwing it away.

And so the excitement begins!

No soon after cartons of mooncakes arrived to the Food Bank. And what is more surprising was...

We received 1,800 pieces!

That is so abundant that we can even bless many outreaches who never had moon cakes!

The Lifezone (another drug rehab center sustained by Glad Tidings church) recipients were more than happy to help moving the boxes, of course, they get to receive some of these lovely treats too.

Next the kids of Rumah Juara orphanage (that recently conducted a charity bazaar to raise funds for 70 kids' education fees till college) happily received them.

Out reach volunteers were super excited to get these to the aboriginal families.

And of course, the coastal Pulau Indah aboriginal families were more than pleasant to receive them. You can see some of the kids helped themselves and extra box just to bring home to share with their siblings.

And of course, the Mikhalai School of Destiny children were just more than happy to see their wish come true. You can see their satisfied faces (along with extra drinks sponsored by F&N) and they are more than happy to share with as many recipients as possible.

Sharing is caring, yes?

God never shortchange us indeed!

It is so interesting to see how this exciting event unfolds with the scripture that came across our minds:

"..Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Matthew 17:20

All we need, is that little (childlike) faith and believe when we ask, and see how overflowing God has provided us! Glory definitely belongs to Him!
