In this article we are going to base our discussion on the Yoruba’s and we shall continue to talk about the rest in the next posts.

YORUBA
The historical origin of Yoruba starts and ends up in Ile-Ife and Oodua.
Clapparton and lander are the first people to do research about the Yoruba land; they travelled up this route, Kingdoms and Satellite town to the coast of the end in 1825. When they entered the land they noticed that the people are in order, there is peace around them and indeed they are prosperous.
Yoruba history is so sweet and great, no wonder P.c Lloyd, a historian of Nigeria history and culture says and I quote hiss words;
“Acknowledge of the Yoruba past must be gleaned from the Myths, Legends, Falk-tales, praise-song and the likes, all of which are rapidly being forgotten by all the younger generations.”
To say the fact things concerning Yoruba history is nowhere to be found now although the man talked during their time that is rapidly being forgotten but now I sad it is totally forgotten. Although we still have student that are studying history in school but the question is that how many are they? Also those that are studying history are they ready to do research and to receive a conc. Education, we the student of nowadays are now lazy. Also the teachers are now lazy they don’t have time for students all they have time for is party, just to be flexing around the street and they call themselves teacher, what a pity.
I faced the Yoruba’s because this post talk much about them but concerning the history of the tribe almost every tribe doesn’t want to know much about their tribe.

DIALECTS

The inhabitants of the Yoruba kingdoms and states spoke numerous dialects with local variation. Nonetheless, their language was broadly mutually intelligible. Many Europeans visitors who have contact with them describe their language as “Anago”. They don’t have common names for themselves apart from the names of their ancestors i.e the Ifes and the Omoluabi and the children of Odudua(Omooduduwa). The Yorubas became to bear the name” Yoruba” in the 19th centuries when the missionaries i.e the Southern American Baptist missionary and the Christian missionary society came to Nigeria, they give them the name in other to provide one common bible for the entire Omo oduduwa.
KINGS

In Yoruba land, there is some specific family that normally becomes the King they call them the Royal family. The Yoruba people honor their king to the extent that the king can control them anyhow he wish, the normally said “Command belong to the king”, as I said earlier that the king is the most respected person in the lands and they serve them as they serve God because they believe in serving the kings after God. In fact before civilization the kings are the only one to use horse, they wear the most expensive cloths and the Yoruba people don’t allow their king to walk on the bear ground the will set cloth on the ground in order for him to walk on.

PARTY

Yoruba's are the 1st party celebrating culture in Nigeria, we take delight in party and in almost 98% of yoruba party there will be family clothe in which there will also be another type of clothes for friend. I can boldly says that a 4years old child will be thinking of party for his 4th year birthday, to the extent of choosing cloth for the party, do you now see how we cherish party in yoruba land.
