ULOG 9: So how was your 4th? What do you mean the 13th?
We are so making this all about @enjar, the time traveling, game playing, gardening cat because well ... He asked about my 4th and I wrote a quick something in a reply and ... let me see if I still have it ... I do! But I thought, "I'd really like to put some photos with this and then use it for my Ulog."
So I just now sat down to get caught up and lo and behold, @enjar has inquired about my absence. That's so much sweeter than the people who unfollow me because I'm not visiting their every post. Don't you think so? Well, I do! (But that's also for another post.)
So here's my 4th of July!
It was sunny, bright and fire engine hot!
We got up and did yard work from 7am to 10am.
Weeded and cleaned up the little flower spot by our drive, by the road. Funnily, this is Mitch's pride and joy. I never guessed he liked messing with having a nice entry and yard. I think he's surprised too. And "All the flowers came off the discounted, ready-to-die rack at Lowes." True.
Except those two tall, lanky giant sunflowers. They are from seeds! @mariannewest, we may actually get a crop! The row by the fence line is still standing!
And I kind of cleaned up around our milkweed for the monarchs by the creek for the thousandth third time this year. It needs more help again.
Then the mower found yet another reason to quit running.
For a little mini-tractor mower that was left abandoned in the garage, it has proven to be highly repairable and exceedingly in need of repair.
So far there's been an engine, transmission, carburetor, and mowing deck (including the spindles) overhaul. Today it was the gas lines sucking in air instead of fuel.
But it's all good. The trip to the parts store led to a lead on a front end differential, at a near by salvage yard, for our car with 200k miles on it.
And there are some very pretty German Shepard pups there at the salvage yard, too. No. I didn't get to bring one home.
I've been the chef's guinea pig for the rest of the day. So far I've found nothing to reject. Shortbread cookies. Cheesecake batter. And I think a cherry compote or sauce of some sort is underway. Oh as is fresh roasted cold brew coffee. It has to sit overnight. The cheese cake has to also cool overnight.
Tomorrow morning's breakfast should be excellent.
Oh today's breakfast was whole wheat pancakes with a reduced sugar blueberry creme syrup. All made fresh.
(Have I mentioned that most of the time I really love SimpleNote? ok that's another post But mine is stuffed full of little snippets of this n thats. It's also another way I start my posts in one place and move on to another. So. That's how I saved off my reply that was destined to get lost delayed. But, again more on that later.)
So the most important part of the post about the 4th of July was about my Birthday Musing Amusement (on a previous day) and that's what got finally posted in the wee hours of the 5th.
So the fifth just vanished. Something about Sleeping late, Long chats, Chiropractors, Cheesecake, Guinea pigs at the Chiropractors (em Guinea pigs refers to being the test subject in a lab), and wandering around in Tractor Supply to collect mower parts and being absolute goof-offs playing with the gardening supplies (like why didn't they ask us to leave?) because it was just too hot to go back outside. Broken mower? pff that can wait until after the sun goes down!
The morning of the 6th ... hmm ... I'm sure I've mentioned that I'm allergic to wheat (not just the gluten, the whole grain). It's not severe. I can cheat just a little here and there and be okay. I knew I was pushing the cheating cushion to the explosion point even on the 4th when I woke up aching in every joint. You'll notice how well I honored that warning. Not even. Welll ...
I woke with a very very fine rash in the crease of my left eyelid and my eye was also irritated. I also have a bit of trouble with my vision (more, later). So add a little more irritation in and I throw my hands up. Nothing as close as my monitors was ever going to come into focus. I tried getting a little caught up on laundry and stuff (that secret project) since Mitch had been home vacationing and throwing that all out of balance.
By evening the bends of my arms were itching. And I was considering removing my eyeballs.
So yeah. Saturday morning I woke with my eyes swollen almost shut. And the bends of my arms were fully engaged in a rash and my stomach and hips were catching up.
So I went to my doctor's office. So, I spent the next days until today being very very very still and or sleeping. I don't recommend the following concoction to just anyone but I personally am up to 2 droppers of 3000mg CBD oil, two gelcaps of a mix of lavender eo and a protein that is known to induce a relaxed state of mind (I'll look it up if you're still reading and need to know and leave a comment), annnd, two plain aspirin to get my last two nights of full sleep. I'm thinking of adding magnesium tonight because 2nd cup of coffee was at 3pm or so, so I could easily stay awake until dawn.
Today was just a little little bit better. I would show you a photo of my arm but so far my test subjects have all squirmed and immediately demanded to know why I wasn't at my doctor's office. No, no. It's not ripped open in little ulcerated spots. Thank Yehovah* for that! I've been that far with almonds. Pass!
The rash on my arms has mostly left; however, it does look like pretty badly sunburned skin. You know that sunburn that takes you just to the point of blisters and completely and painfully peals off in like 4 days? That sunburn that is prickly like 1000's of little little fine needles prickling your skin? That sunburn that makes you feel cold even when you're sitting in a house that has all the ac turned off and it's 78 degrees inside? Yeah. That one. That's where I am now. My arms, my neck, my stomach, my hips. 1000's of pricks ... needle pricks! behave already!
So but why? Why is my skin now deeply sunburned? I dunno. I do know I think it has something to do with my over the top histamine reactions because a stupid horse fly bite did the same thing earlier this spring. I just did get that to heal!
AND Furthermore ... YES Furthermore! ... but that'll have to wait. I'm going to get the photos uploaded and take that magnesium and go to bed.
Oh but I can give you a mower update. While the hoses were really and truly sucking in air, it was the coil that was really gone out. It's running again. So more early morning mowing come Sunday!
Also, Tomorrow This morning in 6 hours when the sun is up, we're going to try to sit outside with some coffee and watch the dogs run around. I better leave him a note.
So, what about you? What have you been up to? Bonus points if you leave me a link-taxi to your favorite current work.
And did you enter the ulog contests last week? You should have won. I missed them.

@marillaanne
thanx to @angelacs, i came across your post. it was nice to read through your days. You are very good at elaborating things, makes your readers interested and in need for more. I hope the skin reaction gets better sooner, home remedies?
the 4th of July was my birthday. Lots of my American friends always make it a point to remind me of why i should consider moving to America because of that. It was nothing special, did not celebrate.
However, i was blessed through out last week, the highlights being:
on the 7th, i visited A care home for children suffering with cancer here in Cebu city, Philippines. it was a great time spent with them. i am still writing about it, bits by bits.
On the 8th, i got a last minute invitation to attend a live Don Moen concert. even though the tickets were a bit pricey, i did not think twice about it , for this was once in a million moments for me. I was Blessed . Best 2hrs i have had in a long time. .
Its been raining all day here today, and getting a little down with a cold, il go make my self a good ginger and lemon Tea , always does wonders.
Have a great morning, and day ahead. its almost sun down here.
Just between you and me, I wish my birthday was in the middle of July, away from the 4th. My birthday can be rather predictable. But this year my husband just let us keep it on the down-low, quiet. I really liked that.
He did offer to take me on a mini road trip but I had no interest. Between the heat and the holiday crowds ... meh ... pass.
I am glad you are a person of strength who can go and visit with the sick children. That is a special talent and gift and I am glad to see you use them and not squander them.
I asked YouTube who Don Moen is. Do you know there was a concert published Jan 2013 that has over 21 million views?! I couldn't get my data stream to be happy playing it but he seems enjoyable.
I hope your cold is all improved! Ginger and lemon tea is so good for whatever ails me! It tends to get the little lymph nodes (body fluid filters) moving too, at least as far as I'm convinced.
Oh you asked me about natural remedies. Well interesting thing that. I got sloppy about taking my night time concoction. It got moved away from my bedside and only the CBD oil was there the last two nights. So I tried taking just that and ended up not able to sleep because the skin prickles actually got worse.
I forgot to mention that I was also taking a colloidal silver that is processed extremely fine to enter the cells. And a Curcumin Complex which is the extracted anti-inflammation ingredient in turmeric. And one other immune support that helps remove impurities.
So last night I was pondering why I felt like I was regressing and I suddenly realized I'd gotten all sloppy. So I took the whole kit and caboodle last night ... well my sleep schedule is so horribly messed up it was really 2am. Finally I fell sound deep asleep within an hour. Today I have felt improved all day long!
If I had to pick out just three main suspects, colloidal silver seems to improve everything so #1, then since this is all about inflammation the curcumin would be #2, and then I'm pleased that the Internet agrees that lavender is an antihistamine so it would be #3. I can honestly attest that the CBD oil alone didn't help.
I also ate very light and drank vegetable juice today. It has felt very right. I've also been actually craving lemon and ginger tea since I read your post the first time. Maybe I'll make time to make me some tomorrow. We actually have fresh ginger in the house.
OH and I felt well enough to sit out under the trees for about 45 min and I played with my fractals today. Just felt all quiet and artsy today. I think I'll post a few before bed.
I'm quite pleased to meet you through @angelacs efforts on my behalf. It's on my mind to come read about your visits with the children. Probably when you least expect it ;-)
You know, I thought of inviting you to enter @abh12345 Leagues, the Engagement part of it especially, @PurpleTanzanite. But I didn't know if you liked writing long engaging comments nor if you'd have the time, so I made a mental note to check your comments section and just haven't gotten around to it.
In case you're interested, the Leagues report is published every Sunday, usually in the morning unless @abh12345 is watching football. ;) If you'd like to join, you could just let him know in the comments and he'd add you. xxx
Honestly, depends on the mood am in, and maybe time. But overall, i love contributing my 2 cents whenever possible, and ofcourse, learning from the BEST (YOU), trying to pay it forward. i will let him know for sure. thank you for your recommendation.
I try but don’t always have the time to check in on the people I follow even when they are not in my feed. It is shocking sometimes how someone stops posting for a while and no one even seems to notice. Sometimes people have wonderful things to share and they create such an amazing blog like this one sharing it. Other times they were suffering a bit in silence and just could not find the courage to make a post. I’m always super happy when it’s this type of blog!
Cheesecake! Oh my I have a weakness for such things. Last time I ate some I was at a buffet. First thing I ate before anything else. I might had some more in the middle of the dinner. I also made sure to finish with some more! Thankfully they were in these tinny little containers. So I did not feel to guilty about having a couple.
Glad you have a lawnmower that can be easy to fix. I end up going with the cheap ones. Maybe you get a year or two out of them. They seem so made to break these days. Then it’s time for another one.
I hope you get out and enjoy this wonderful summer day today. My day is filled with construction work being done nearby and I’m someone who really prefers his silence and not hearing or smelling things this early in the morning! Have a wonderful day!
Obviously it's time for you to migrate to a park.
I saw your other comment. Guess what! I'm now dealing with fluid rapidly building under my cornea.
This comment was made from https://ulogs.org
Hehe I really do need to move to a park without the internet! I fear a swarm of people would track me down though. Things would not get done and sooner or later people would noticed. I might get away with such a thing for two or three days!!!
The library! The librarians would fiercely protect you from angry noisey mobs. Plus there might be a pc. To confuse the masses, alternate destinations. 2 parks 2 libraries.
I'm going to tell you a secret. I've regained my love for my feed by going to @steempeak aka https://steempeak.com. It's possible to see just the people I follow because it's possible to filter out the resteems. AND there is an option to display the posts as a grid instead of an interminably long list.
There's two people that I keep loose tabs on who have gone radio silent: @stellabella and @kus-knee. I'm sure there are others too and yes, it does cause moments of concern.
This last cheesecake recipe was heavenly! And it was my meal that night. Next time I don't think he should use a cookie that is made from whole wheat as the crumb crust, though.
In this yard, the cheap ones wouldn't last any longer than this one that has nearly been completely completely rebuilt. The man keeps mumbling about finding a zero turn radius mower. I dunno.
How long is the construction going to last? We live near an area that is being turned into a tightly compacted neighborhood one lot at a time. There's been some construction smell in the air for days. Keeps reminding me of you ;-)
I have the opposite trouble most have regarding feeds. Most time it does not move considerably enough in a single day. I get sidetracked by my own projects and don’t always look further then top couple these days. Just got too much going on.
I’m glad you found a way to manage your feed to enjoy it more!
I would not worry too much about those two going silent. They are rather involved in doing their own thing. Sometimes you just have too many opportunity you can’t get around to everything. As such the lower paying ones tend to get overlooked for a while. Building things takes a lot of effort, trail, and hardship. I’m sure what ever either of those two are doing these days they could use a real day week off and not a work 40 hours instead of 120 that week kind of “vacation.”
Dear @marillaanne 😉 ahh your name remind me to Ms. Marilla from the Novel "Anne and The Green Gables"😊 I am a random visitor, found your post through @angelacs entry post in the pay it forward contest this week.
Your story really interesting, how come you're so cool with all those kind of medicine you should take into your stomach? Why did you risk yourself with the wheat/gluten😯 I just don't understand that part. Wish you all the best.
@cicisaja I love you already!
MarillaAnne is my pen name since forever on the Internet. (1997 i think) It is a combination of Marilla and Anne from the novel "Anne of Green Gables" :-)
The reason I felt confident about taking the combination of herbs oils and aspirin is because I am familiar with each one individually and I am familiar with how they work together, in groups of two, at lower doses of each. And I was sure that a double amount of each one was safe. The rest of the risk was driven by the fact that I was at the point of losing my mind anyway :-)
Why did I risk eating too much wheat? Because em gluttony or greed. I just so wanted the goodies that my husband was making for everyone else.
In short, I was not being wise. ;-)
I am glad you came by as a random visitor from @angelacs work to promote my writing. I look forward to more visits !
haha this post reads like my brain works!! Love it!! Out of everything, I'm choosing your use of CBD oil :) I use it for arthritis and helping me sleep; my husband had cancer/seizures/mouth tumors and the CBD helps for all of it!
And I love your comments about commenting at the end of your post too :)
I found your post because @angelacs featured you in her entry to our Pay it Forward Contest; please consider joining us too ;)
Thank you for your invite! The Pay It Forward program has certainly brought a very nice quality of reader and writer to this post. I am very grateful for @angelacs efforts on my behalf.
I tried just the CBD oil alone and it was not as helpful as I wanted. But I need to confer with my out of town chiropractor to see if there was an even higher dosage I could have gone to. I'm glad you and yours have had such great results. I wonder if yours also had a higher level of THC.
I wish more people would get over themselves. There's been so much crap flung over the comment section that I think new people develop an unhealthy fear of writing them right away. Not to mention there's a generally frightful attitude being swung about by those who are afraid of people who have a different view.
Anyway. Feel free to adopt your own encouraging, slightly demanding, outline for commenting. We need it.
Feel free to drop by and keep company any time!
After spending what felt like a fortune on the oil, I decided to try making it myself, and it turned out great. But, I have no idea what percentage CBD to THC is in it lol
I love to comment on others' posts; it's my thing :)
Cheers!
AHha! You had the whole plant and nothing but the plant. I'm very curious. How did you make it. That's definitely a post you should make!
It was so simple. We just used a coconut oil base, boiled it with the dried greens, then you let it cool and repeat the process a few times. Honestly, I just went online and googled the recipe lol How times have changed :)
LOL indeed indeed the times they be a changing ... all the time. Cause you know what I say, "Time marches on and we're on a forced march." Which for some reason freaks out about 50% of the people I say it to.
Pretty sure we can't get out of the march without getting out of time. hmm.
Only problem is, I don't know if I can get hold of the dried leaves here in Kentucky. ... Will have to do some checking around on that. Ha! I even know who to check with! We'll see.
Thanks for the info and encouragement. :-)
I like that saying @marillaanne!
You're welcome. Hope you find what you're looking for
Hoping that cheesecake and coffee were delicious!!! I wished I had some right now. Oh well, oatmeal is pretty good too LOL
Yay on the sunflowers!!!
And here is my latest ULog LOL
I am tired this morning since my crazy dogs kept waking me up at night. Possums and other critters around... and I am going to see a friend who is back in town for a visit :)
https://steemit.com/dlive/@mariannewest/db38fcc0-8654-11e8-adb2-bf4283a63cb9
Oatmeal can be a great delicacy. I tend to favor mine with a bit of salt and butter. Or full on sweetened. I don't think there is an in between.
I so relate to the crazy dog syndrome! They had a win win this morning against the skunks. The skunk got them but the big one got the skunk. Mitch said he was carrying it around like a trophy. I slept through the whole event. They were all out "mowing."
Thank you for leaving the link-taxi!
found your post through @angelac post in the pay it forward contest this week..
honestly I'm a bit tired to read your post, because I can't sto giggling from the first paragraph till the end of your words, interesting and unstoppable :D
well.. I'm a random visitor too, don't worry about following or not, I'll follow you because I like the way you're sharing your daily story. gotta wait to see your cold brew coffee photo later
Hmmm you want a cold brewed coffee photo? Sounds like I might need to see if my husband can roast some more coffee beans. I heard him in my sleep tell me that he's roasted enough to get us through Shabbat / Sabbath. He roasts it in very very small batches. I don't know if this roast would include enough for a cold brew. But we'll put the photo on my todo list. A recipe might also be good.
I'm glad you found the post amusing. I do have a twisted sense of humor that seems to focus on the ironies of life. It doesn't always come out when I write but often enough that I even find it enjoyable. Now isn't that vain ;-)
I enjoyed all your comments and I'm so glad you stopped by. @angelac definitely recruited some very delightful visitors.
Thank you!
Small note of clarification: My chef is Mitch, my husband. The Chiropractor's office staff were the main guinea pigs (test subjects) for the cheesecake. They said he should make another one. They need to test it more. He's thinking of doing some small batch food productions / personal chef-ing, and/ or maybe catering ...
Okay well for real ... off to bed at 2:22 am ... is that a significant time?
This comment was made from https://ulogs.org
hahahaha.. you put the right comment in the rigth time, so I won't have to ask more about it @marillaanne
Dear @dipoabasch, @cicisaja, @angelacs, @purpletanzanite, @mariannewest Thank you so much for stopping by. Just a quick note, some time in the next 24 hours (hopefully sooner than later) I'll be back to make individual replies. You won't believe what further harm I did to myself! We should listen to our mother's good instructions all of our lives.
Oh no!!! Hope you are okay!
