Davis Island dog beach

Recently, my beagle Otis and I went to the Davis Island dog park located right by Peter O' Knight Airport on Davis Island.

There are two parks- one has 200 feet of waterfront for dogs who enjoy the water and another on approximately one acre for dogs who would rather stay dry. Otis had a blast here. All of the owners and dogs we encountered seemed very friendly. We checked out the dry park before heading to the beach park.

It had a double gated entry, a few picnic tables, drinking water and dog waste facilities but not much shade. There is also a small strip with another double gate for small dogs.

The waterfront dog park had a beach for dogs to enter the water and was gated into the water so they could not swim away. It had grassy areas and shady spots for owners to sit and relax although many were playing with their dogs in the water so I would advise to bring a swim suit and be prepared to get wet.

On the far side of this park there was a seawall that led down a path overlooking large rocks. Some dogs braved the rocks which were not sharp. They seemed more like fun obstacles for the dogs to play on. There were showers near the double gated entry and dog waste facilities throughout the park.

Overall the Davis Island dog beach is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon swimming and playing with your dog. Make sure your dog is well trained and friendly before proceeding to the park.
