My Contribution to the End of Maduro's Regime

Dear Stemians,
Today, my wife and I marched once more. We did it for our children and for all the friends and relatives we've lost to this damn regime.

In Venezuela, we celebrate the end of Marcos Pérez Jiménez's dictotorship on January 23rd, and it was decided that today would signal the end of Maduro's dictatorship. We wanted to show from our part of Venezuela the enthusiasm of men and women of all ages, ways of life and creeds to put an end to this nightmare.

We are not sure about what will happen next, but we are sure of one thing: Venezuela can't stand one more year of a chavista government. The international community should understand that this kind of regime does a lot of harm to the whole world.

I climbed a tree to get a better look at the march.

Entire families showed their rejection to the Madur's government hitting their pots and pans.

Even this old lady surprised everyone by taking her grandchild's tablet and recording the whole march herself!

At this time of the night the smell of burning tires is getting strong in our house. The police has arrived and it looks like it is going to get ugly. Protests and government violence will increase in the next hours, but I think this is it for Maduro's regime. This is the best chance we got at reclaiming our dignity as a nation and the rest of the world should help make that a reality.

My plea to the international community:

Stop the ambivalence and double standards. Stop defending the bad guys just because of economic interests. Stop contributing to the death of inocent people. While you meet in fancy auditoriums and enjoy 5-star hotels and luxury, old people, women and children die. We are still waiting for Michele Bachelet to come to Venezuela and certify the violations of Human Rights. How can she hold that post when her paralysis is contributing to the death of more innocents?

Stop these criminals now!

"Fuera Maduro!"

Sort:

@hlezama, Praying for the situation of Venezuela and let's wish that this situation will be considered as Global issue and not just issue of one country because if one country faced it then others can too so this is the moment when we have to rise for the humanity keeping all differences aside. Stay blessed.

Thanks, brother. Wise words

Welcome and thank you. Have a blessed time ahead.

Today will remain for history, my dear friend. I feel that we are in a period of transition, and I hope, as do most Venezuelans, that this period of transition will give us back our freedom!
I believe it will be so. The world already recognizes this.

Thanks for sharing.

We all hope so. Thanks for stopping by

Excelente post hermano, se agradecen estos aportes que informan a la gente de afuera y otras partes del pais sobre lo que esta pasando.

Gracias, hermano. Esa es la idea.

@hlezama,

Hey mate. I've been following the latest happenings regarding Venezuela. I have a feeling things are going to come to a head very soon. The US, Brazil, Columbia ... plus Canada, the UK, the EU and a host of other regional countries recognizing Guaido - the international diplomatic and economic pressure will soon make it impossible for Maduro to continue. And, I'd bet Venezuelan military officers are becoming extremely nervous about the loyalty of the military rank and file.

Be careful, my friend. Take care of yourself and your family ... stay safe.

Quill

Thanks, Quill.
Things are quit complicated here now. Too slow for my taste, but so far it is the best we got.
Hopefully the outcome will not be as bloody as it may

@hlezama,

Henrry, check your DM's.

Quill

Thank you for sharing your experience, @hlezama I've been following this for a few years now but not all the details have been clear through filtered stories and news. Who to trust?

I wish your people peace and freedom from this regime. Oppression seems to be a global problem right now (or at least more obvious and blatant). Sharing personal stories and documenting events is important to getting the word out and informing others of the truth.

Blessings

Thank you. Can't blame you for not knowing who to trust. We can't figure that out ourselves. It does not help that we have the most trecherous politicians on both sides and that many venezuelans have become experts in creating all kinds of fake news and spreading them in the social networks.
It is very frustrating.
Yesterday, my brother, who is in Perú, asked me how things were here because he had received information that affirmed that the gringoes would invade today. It is noon and they have not invaded yet :)
You have Quevedo, the current president of PDVSA (our oil company) affirming that they increased the production of oil. Most international organizations have stated the opposite, even OPEC, the entity that rules our oil production and exports have listed us as having reduced our production (which has aggravated our situation). Thus, it is easy to decided who to believe in cases like those.
You only have to watch (thank good ness the videos are there for all to see) the statements of minsiters and other government officials to see the level of shamelessness they exhibit. The ministers of Health (we have had more than a 12 in the last 6 years) have repeatedly denied the health crisis. Our health system, according to them is the best. But it is enough to peer into any ER in any hospital in the country and you'll see they are lying. If they can lie about something so grave, which has traslated in the untiely death of hundreds of children, women and elderly people, the sky is the limit to what they can fabricate.

Thank you so much for your expanded commentary on the experience you are having and witnessing. I just saw a video this morning that validates what you are saying to a large degree and also seemed to clear up my confusion on the interim president. Maybe you can watch it and tell me if it is accurate? I will share it far and wide if it is and share your message as well if that is okay.

I think that your messages, video and photographs are reaching a bigger audience now as it is gaining a lot of traction on social media - which is great!

Thank you so much for sharing this video.

It is 100% accurate. That's what happened.

Her exhaustion is my exhaustion. I am so sick and tired of trying to explain the gravity of our situation, I just can't believe some important parts of the world does not get it. Just by listening to or watching any of Maduro's officials should be enough to know what kind of psychos have been running the country.

The most bizarre part of the story, which she does not mention is how the hand-picked supreme court declared the National Assembly illegitimate. In 2015 they annuled the election of 3 representatives from the state of Amazonas (left to right: Romel Guzamana, Nirma Guarulla, and Julio Ygarza; indigenous congressmen, from the sector of the population the chavistas had repeatedly swore to protect and vindicate because the previous governments had abused these poor indians).

The annulment was ilegal, was ruled by the wrong entity, the assembly swore them into office given the fact that they had already been proclaimed as the law dictates 24 hours after being elected. That's how the assembly became illegitimate, according to Maduro's government, because they disobbeyed a mandate from the supreme court.

Well, that was years ago and the Amazon still does not have congressmen representing them. They never solved the dispute of the elections or called for a remake. They knew they'd lose for an ever wider margin.
How can the non-intervention undits ignore this?
The chavistas have become geniuses of evil and quasi-legal manipulations.
