Tacloban is famous to be the Home of the Happiest People in the World, the tagline was launched by the Tacloban City government last April 5, 2018. Why they are famous? It is because during Typhoon Haiyan, known as Super Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines, it was one of the strongest tropical cyclones ever recorded. On making landfall that devastated portions of Southeast Asia, particularly Tacloban City, Philippines wherein thousands of people perished. But despite of that worst disaster, their spirits were not broken but they remain joyful, happy and very resilient.

Everywhere you go, the people are still smiling, so nice and hospitable. That’s the image of Taclobanons even abroad. As you can see the videos or photos posted on social media people in Tacloban including children, still manage to smile despite of the massive tragedy. They are still happy and able to give thanks to the people who helped them.

Today, as I witnessed the people in Tacloban people are eager and excited preparing for the Sangyaw Festival Parade of Lights eventhough they are tired and exhausted preparing a vehicle used to carry an exhibit in the parade or a float but still they can turn up the corner of their mouth 😃 - smile. This is the reason why people in Tacloban have that tagline Home of the Happiest People in the World.
