Blimey It's Hot!

Yesterday I talked about trying to book a little trip away and said I didn't fancy Southern Europe since it would be way too hot for me but right now, it's too hot for me here as well!
Since Le Malaise was still hanging around first thing this morning I decided to make myself (because that's what it felt like) go to the beach and sit by the sea for a couple of hours.
What I hadn't counted on was the heat. Even with a cooling breeze it was already 25C/77F and rising!! 😱 What? Where am I?
Normally I would manage such temperatures by going for a swim but the water is still a little cool for my liking at 16C/61F.
A couple of people fooled me briefly, waking nonchalantly to the water's edge, boldly stepping forward and swimming off without a sound. But then, as more people followed, there were the usual shrieks and faffing about, indicative of an "it's too cold for Gillian" sea temperature.
I felt vindicated just lying there with my book. 😂

As a counterpoint to all this heat I thought I'd post a nice little gif from earlier in the year when the weather was beginning to improve and we were hopeful of warmer days to come.
We weren't to be disappointed. In fact, we're having such a good summer this year I am rather hopeful that the glorious weather will continue I will be swimming before the end of July, a rare occurrence indeed! 😁

Like the .gif I've never done one. I should put that on my list of things to learn. 78F here at 10:30am so its gonna be hot. Good thing about bay area is its only 70F in SF and 61F at my favorite beach. Maybe that will motivate me to go closer to the shore this afternoon.
I've never done a .gif either @steven-patrick. Google presented it to me and I said "yep, I'll have that one". 😂
I have Google photos on my phone and I get various edits done for me automatically. Most of them I just delete but this was a good one. In fact I should remember when there's something moving to take a load of photos close together so Google will turn them into a .gif for me.
I've never done that on purpose. I'll have to try it. 😊
I like this little bench at the water's edge. It's good to sit on the shore, enjoying the sea air :)
We have lots of those benches, all along the promenade, @madlenox. In fact, that would make another nice collections post as I have photographs of quite a few of them in different situations. 😁
I don't think the ocean on our side ever warms up enough to get into, but then the coast rarely sees 70-degree weather, either. There was supposed to be an unseasonably warmer stretch last week for a couple of days, but that dissipated long before so temperatures dipped back down into the lower 60s. Still, there was supposed to be sun, which is a much more rare occurrence there than where we live.
We hit 77 today. It's been higher, but this is about what June is normally like, with temperatures adjusting upward to the 80s for most of July and then the 90s in August. We might hit a couple of 100 days before it's done.
If so, that's the best time to go to the coast, because it can still be mid-60s there. I say enjoy it for as long as it lasts because we all know what we get later. :)
80s and 90s are too hot for me, especially if I can't get a cooling dip.
Low 70s are the perfect temperature as far as i'm concerned but mid 60s might be a bit too low for the beach, especially if there is a breeze.

We'd need to head south to get some decent beach weather. Like Southern California. I agree, though, I function best in lower 70 degree weather with a slight breeze with maybe a variance of up to five degrees either way. Fortunately, we tend to get our weather from the Pacific, so there can be cooling off spells in between the 80-90 degree heat, but once you get into August, that doesn't happen too frequently. September usually dips back down into the 70s, but it can prolong the summer or start fall really quick.
