Greetings to everybody.
Today, I would like to ask you guys a question.
Do you think that Steem promotion through Twitter is moving on the right tracks?

My thoughts

First of all, I would like to congratulate and give huge respect to @Nathanmars for starting this awesome Twitter campain and big ups to @freecrypto for starting the 77 Push-up challenge.
Both these guys are putting in a lot of work and time into Steem blockchain so mad respect from me.

Before I state my opinion, I would like to say that I believe that Twitter promotion for our blockchain is the thing that's pumping the price these couple of months and attracting new people on Steem. But are we doing it right?

I see a lot of people posting their blogs, vlogs etc. links on Twitter with the #Steem tag and so do I.
There are over 600 tweets about Steem every hour and I find that fascinating.I see a lot of twitter engagement on a lot of Steem users and that's awesome. But when I click on a post I have noticed that there are far less upvotes and comments on the actual content than on Twitter. And my question is WHY?

No_comments.jpg

Most people just log in to Twitter and start liking every Steem tagged content in there but not the actual content that's been posted on our blockchain.
I don't like talking about others, maybe that's happening only to a few people so I'll talk about myself.
In 2018, I used to have over 15 comments in every skate vlog I uploaded from people who actually enjoyed watching my content and left their opinion at the comment section.
Now the comment section of most posts I visit is dead but if I check the Twitter post it might have 20 likes and 10 comments? What's happening?

Imagine being a random Twitter user and you see a tweet about Steem. You decide to create an account, log in, do your first post, Tweet about it,recieve some Twitter Steem love and a day later you find out that the comment section on your original Steempost is pretty much dead except some @Partiko and @steemitboard comments.
Every new user will get confused and will start asking why my Twitter post got so many likes and comments and none of these people upvoted and commented on my actual Steem content?

What do you think?

I want to hear your opinion regarding this matter. Are we doing it the right way?
I am totally into promoting our blockchain through every social media and I do that with every single one of my posts but shouldn't we also take a look at the actual content?

Thank you all for your time reading my blog and I am waiting for some nice comment bellow.
I would also like to ask you to check out @Steemskate, my project on Steem blockchain.
A must-follow page for skateboarders and skate fans.
Have a good one everybody and keep Steemin

Hello,
that's easy to answer, the #seven77 pushups twitter challenge by @nathanmars is made to attract more users to steemit not for upvoting our posts, the one and the other of our #steemtweets hustlers upvote our posts anyway, so it's a challenge to promote steem.
Have a wonderful day
Tom

I know dude it's just that engagement on Steem is pretty much dead but on Twitter the same people get a lot more comments and upvotes.Ain't that weird?

It's a good step I think viral and interest along with challenge are good but limiting. There should be some challenge such as is done with Bitcoin and Twitter. It should encourage good quality, a buy of steem and posting good quality content.

And increase engagement.
Couldn't agree more man.

I agree. This could be one of the major challenges we face on trying to retain the newcomers.

But, before commenting, I do believe the Twitter movement is on the right track. With that much Steem Tweets per hour, it's fascinating to see how it can build the hustle we try to achieve, it's just a matter of time until all the community on Tweeter starts talking aloud about Steem.

There are two notable things I noticed on the Twitter movement for the newcomers.

  1. More organic welcome
If someone shares an introduction of newcomers on Twitter, they'll be receiving lots of nice welcome with great votes. This will be a great boost of motivation for them to continue on to post.

This should be continued but the problem maybe we can't reach out to as many newcomers because they might not know about our Twitter initiative or we can't accommodate the numbers of newcomers coming in. Hence, we might miss a couple of good people.

  1. I agree with you that the likes/comment received on Twitter doesn't sync with the ones on Steem. Just the same as the number of followers on Twitter doesn't sync with the ones on Steem. But, I don't think we should be focusing on this one at this time.

Another challenge I think we might face on the Steem promotion is we don't have enough marketing material to take it on Twitter. We, of course, can use our own experience, but I feel we lack formal marketing material. Other crypto communities are using solid facts and figures to showcase their crypto but we don't have that much. For instance, for video marketing material, I'm glad we have a few from the surfermarley contest. How about powerpoint presentation materials?

That's all from me. I love discussion like this because it can help us shape our Twitter campaign.

I agree with you in most of your points, we definitely need better marketing.
Steem is people's nlockchain so we are also responsible for that aside Steem.
But the point I want to make is not less Twitter more Steem, I just want people to click on the actual twitter post and see the original content and not just liing the Twitter posts.

@dtube should upvote content that has more organic comments and that’s one way to increase engagement

It's a good topic to talk about. I think you are right, if we are active in twitter, we should be active here as well. I advice you to take a look at what @robertandrew is doing to improve the engagement. Thanks for caring about this issue.

Advertising Steem is good and it must be done, but there should be more traffic withing Steem blockchain in order to improve and grow.
Thank you for your recommendation regarding @robertandrew, I'll check out this guys for sure.
