Truth, Knowledge and Belief

in #truth6 years ago (edited)

Truth is knowledge, but never contains falsity. Knowledge can be true, false or a any information to be known. Beliefs are speculations and imaginal, but can potentially be true or false.

Truth is not falsity. What is true is not false. What is false is not true.

Knowledge can be true or false. True knowledge is a truth, and it is true that something is true knowledge. False knowledge is not a truth, but it is true that something is false knowledge.

Beliefs are speculations that are not known to be true or false, but can potentially be either true or false just like knowledge. Beliefs can't be described with the words truth or true because the meaning of the words truth or true does not apply to a belief. Although it's true, right and correct that something is a belief, but just not a truth itself. Saying "X is a belief" when it is, is true, right and correct. Saying "X is a truth" when it's a belief or falsity, is false, wrong or incorrect.

Some beliefs can be demonstrated and proven to be true at some point, which makes them a truth when they can be demonstrated to be such. That is how truths and beliefs overlap in the venn diagram. Knowledge is information which can be anything; true or false; real, unreal and/or imaginary.

Something communicated is information, and that something or topic can be known, making it knowledge, but it can be false knowledge, such as 2+2=5 is information that is false knowledge. It can still be communicated as information or knowledge about what is false and not true. Saying "2+2=5 is false", is a true, right and correct statement. Saying "2+2=5 is true", is a false, wrong and incorrect statement.

False knowledge can also be communicated under the pretense of being true when it isn't. Most humans know 2+2=5 is a falsity, not a truth, but other information can be unverified and claimed to be true when it isn't. Someone can believe something to be true or false when it isn't.

Projecting information or knowledge of something being true or false can be intentional, which is a lie, whereby someone knows they are communicating something false as true or something true as false. When someone communicated a falsity as truth or truth as falsity unknowingly, they are not lying, they are just wrong or incorrect by claiming a falsity as truth or truth as falsity.

I hope this helps to clarify how truth, falsity, knowledge, belief, right and wrong can apply, be it within or outside of a moral dimension or description.

Thank you for your time and attention. Peace.

Do you ever think about true being false because it was brought by a person who might've lied, and we believe our whole lives that false is true, and it actually is true for us, but it is not true - etc. history, there's no way for me to jump in a time machine and find out... Also, some people love to live life that isn't true, because truth can sometimes hurt :D Would love to discuss more :)

Yes, truth is actually a word that means something is veracious, verifiable, as is demonstrable. Although something may be true about the past, we only know about events based on the belief, faith, trust and loyalty we place in those giving accounts that what they are repeating as history is what actually happened, but it may not be the case. We can't really say we know the truth about something unless we can verify it. The past we didn't verify is not known as a truth technically because we only trust in others to tell us what it was. Check out Anatoly Fomenko's volumes on History: Science of Fiction?

There are many truths that we can verify ourselves and repeat to demonstrate their veracity. Moral truths are one such category, the most important.

Yea definitely, we can only base it on trust if it's not verified, or verify ourselves as you said by trying it out first hand.

Is this the link I should check out https://archive.org/details/bub_gb_YcjFAV4WZ9MC ?
If not, bother giving me the one you read? :) Thank you for your time. :)

Yup that's the first book ;)

2+2 = 4 is true. A truth. It is objective, not subjective - I don't understand your premise...

all that knowledge is developed in a common environment or culture field, the culture based on the tradition of a society, in each moment an information is generated however the amount of human knowledge is necessarily limited, subject to conditions and there will always be a problem for which the knowledge of a society or an individual is not enough.
You know, on the other hand, it requires fundamental justification, that is to say, a link in a coherent system of meaning and sense, founded on the real and actually understood.

Real coherence is built with reality. Coherence of cultural beliefs or traditions that is false is lacking the connection to the grounding in reality ;)

if people believe many things that are not true
because they need to believe in something, to feel good about yourself even if it's not real.

I believe truth must be defined in time and space.
2+2=4 is true always and everywhere in the universe?

Yes, 2+2=4 is always 2+2=4 You can change the symbol numbers, but the representation of what they stand for is always the same truth being demonstrated..

Always? Even before the big bang when everything was one? We don't really know if basic arithmetic existed then. :)

Oh, wow, this is great piece, true, false, truth, falsity, something is true and something is false, everything rounds each other and one circle but we need real knowledge to understand all these aspects and in my opinion the inner self is an greatest guider and people sometimes ignore it and intake what they want and in my opinion that's why most of the people follow speculations. Thanks for sharing and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂

Yup, people want to believe whatever they want, knowing truth from falsity can burst their bubbles and preconceptions :P

True, most of the time in my opinion people accept falsity because they know that truth can push them into uncomfortable positions, that's why we had many great leaders in past when there was less attraction towards the materialistic benefits, but now we need materialistic benefits and in the fear of losing an lifestyle, we walk with one aspect as everything is fine, and whosoever say everything is fine, remember one thing in that case almost everything is wrong, there is no concept yet where we have everything favorable results. 🙂

2+2 = 22
Is this true? ;)
Great posts as always.

2+2 != 22 in mathematics. In string concatenation, you can concatenate two symbols together (not adding them in math) and get 2 +/& 2 = 4. 3 +/& 3 = 33. two different processes.

Truth is not false and false is not true.
Beliefs speculate unproven to you.
Knowledge is not always a truth to be.
Knowing the truth will set you free.
So don't speculate for it will deceive.
Test each word before you believe.
For knowledge may be a truth or a lie
On wings of truth you can always fly.

A short poem inspired by your blog today @krnel Thanks for the inspiration.

Great, glad I could inspire :D

I do not believe

a very useful post for all of us, thanks @krnel
