Is being “अंगूठाछाप " the ultimate trend??? – Is Everything Pre-decided???

The first thing in your mind on reading the title – like seriously??? Yeah Seriously!!!

शीर्षक पढ़ने पर आपके मन में पहली बात- सच में ??? हां सच में !!!

The whole of India went into a transformation from being putting thumb impressions on the documents; mocking people doing so; turning on to putting signatures, only to realize that at the fag end of this transformation would be an information and communication technology revolution which again asks people to put their thumb impression to authenticate themselves like in the case of aadhaar card.So had the almighty made the thumb impression of each individual human being different(obviously except the minuscule mono zygotes) deliberately??? Are things pre-decided ??? – were determinists right all the way??? – Few questions that are surrounding me – hence the article.

पूरा भारतवर्ष बदलाव के दौर से गुजरा जिसके तहत पहले लोग कागजातों पर अंगूठे का निशान लगाते थे, फिर उनका मजाक उड़ाया जाने लगा फिर हस्ताक्षर का जमाना आया और अंत में सूचना और संचार प्रौद्योगिकी की ऐसी क्रांति आई कि अब फिर से लोगों को अपने अंगूठे का निशान लगाकर प्रमाणिकता देने को कहा जा रहा है जैसे कि आधार कार्ड।तो क्या भगवान ने हर एक इंसान के अंगूठे के निशान को सोच समझकर अलग-अलग बनाया था ??? क्या चीजें पहले से सुनिश्चित थी ??? तो क्या determinists सही थे ??? कुछ सवाल जो मेरे इर्द गिर्द घूम रहे हैंl और इसलिए यह लेख।

Now banks(example IDFC) say if you provide us with various documents(like identity proof; address proof etc.) for opening a bank account the authentication will take some time but if you authenticate through thumb impression the account will be opened within seconds(not exaggerating).You can say it as the “Power of Thumb”. So were our ancestors right all the way in the usage of thumb impression on documents as a means of approval of a person – were it was their trade practices that made india a golden bird or it was just the presence of resources – is a question that’s worth looking for an answer. Resources do not make a country- a developed country otherwise the african continent would have been the most developed and progressive area on the planet. So is it, the knowledge of the way of usage and the practices that brings a nation on a progressive trajectory and makes it a developed nation.

आज बैंक जैसे आईडीएफसी कहते हैं कि यदि आप हमें बैंक अकाउंट खोलने के लिए विभिन्न दस्तावेज जैसे कि पहचान पत्र, निवास पत्र इत्यादि देते हैं तो कुछ समय लगेगा पर यदि आप अपने अंगूठे के निशान से प्रमाणिकता देते हैं तो चंद सेकंड में आपका काम हो जाएगा।आप इसे “अंगूठे की शक्ति” कह सकते हैंl तो क्या हमारे पूर्वज जो दस्तावेजों पर अपनी सहमति के रूप में अंगूठे का निशान लगाते थे – सही थे। तो क्या यह उनकी व्यापारिक पद्धतियां थी जो भारत को सोने की चिड़िया बनाती थी या फिर साधनों की उपलब्धता, ऐसे सवाल जो जवाब तलाशने लायक है।साधन किसी भी देश को विकसित नहीं बनाता, नहीं तो इस ग्रह पर अफ्रीकी महाद्वीप आज सबसे विकसित और प्रगतिशील क्षेत्र होता।तो क्या यह इस्तेमाल करने के तरीके का ज्ञान और प्रथाएं हैं जो किसी देश को प्रगतिशील प्रक्षेपवक्र पर ले जाती हैं और उसे एक विकसित देश बनाती है।

The point basically is instead of craving and madly rushing towards what the other countries are developing and practicing, India in turn should try to deeply excavate its past practices mould it in a way that is compatible with the present information and communication technology and i don’t see any reason why india cannot bring back its lost shine of a golden bird again. However, One most important thing worth keeping in mind is that all the ancient practices cannot be justified in the present context,for example, the social order that discriminated amongst the people, as the manusmriti itself points out, is a major area of conflict in the society today. Availability of resources will define a nation till the date the resources last with them but the practices have been defining the human civilization for ages and will continue doing so till eternity. Even the “Bhagwat gita” states that –

“Its far better to live your own path imperfectly than to live others perfectly”

कहने का अर्थ यह है की दूसरे देशों के द्वारा विकसित की गई प्रथाओं के पीछे पागलों की तरह भागने की वजाए भारत को अपनी पुरानी प्रथाओं को आज की सूचना और संचार प्रौद्योगिकी में ढालना चाहिए और फिर मुझे ऐसा कोई भी कारण नहीं दिखता जिससे भारत अपनी खोई सोने की चिड़िया की चमक को वापस नहीं ला सकता। लेकिन एक बहुत जरूरी बात कि सारी प्राचीन प्रथाओं को आज के संदर्भ में सही नहीं ठहराया जा सकता ,उदाहरण के तौर पर, प्राचीन सामाजिक व्यवस्था जहां लोगों के बीच में भेदभाव का चलन था जैसा कि मनुस्मृति में भी कहा गया है और जो कि आज समाज में संघर्ष का एक कारण भी है। साधन एक देश को तभी तक परिभाषित करता है जब तक की वह साधन उस देश के पास मौजूद हो पर प्रथाएं मानव सभ्यता को सालों से परिभाषित करती आई हैं और अनंत काल तक परिभाषित करती रहेंगी। “भगवत गीता” में भी कहा गया है –

Sreyan svadharmo vigunah paradharmat svanusthitat अर्थात साधारण शब्दों में – दूसरों के पथ को पूर्णता से अपनाने की वजाए स्वयं के ही पथ को अपनाना चाहिए चाहे वह अपूर्ण ही क्यों ना हो।
