Which topics in Steemit receive the highest reward?

in #trends8 years ago (edited)

I have been looking at the posts that trends over the past few weeks and wrote a post on how the diversity of the posts are increasing, which are indeed a very good thing for Steemit. You can read the post here

Today I decided to have a look at which topics have the highest payouts.

In the above example it is clear that the Steemit tag is used a lot by the auhors in their posts. I think it come naturally to use this tag in most posts. The second topic that received high payouts is the @introduceyourself tag. Again very predictable due to the fact that the platform was recently launched. An interesting trend is that is clear in the past week or so is that this tag is now being used less frequently, or actually less of the posts trend.

My wife @naomi-louise recently registered as a user and did not have much success in her first post. Her second post actually received a higher payout than the first. The post can be viewed here. In my book the book on #introduceyourself are closed. I think it is very important for users to be verified with images to ensure we do not have scams etc. My point is that I do not believe as many #introduceyourself will trend than in the past.

When we remove the #steemit and #introduceyourself from the graph , it gives us a much better spread. I only focussed on the Top 40 Paid out posts.

The top 5 leading topics are Photography, Life, Travel, Money and Crypto-News. These topics are clearly leading the way as all of these posts had more than 80 000 SBD paid out over the past few weeks to active steemit users. Photography is touching on 150 000 SBD.

I think #marijuana at number 6 is a surprise contender this high up. I do however believe that @berniesanders voting on this subject, definitely have something to do with it.

Writing, News, Philosophy and Food also made the top 10 list.

In total payouts were made to a diverse 90 topics with $0,06 for the topic of #plastic .
I will give it a few weeks and do the same exercise. Let's see how the graph is affected through time.

Thanks! Really interesting to see it in visual form. I'm hoping Steemit's diversity grows significantly in the coming months. :)

Thanks @liberosist . Also hope so. The diversity is a very important factor in Steemit's future success.

Thanks. This information is useful to know. It gives a snapshot of the platform and the subjects people are paying attention too. I suspect it will continue to evolve over time as more people join and we get more diversity of topics.

Thanks for the comment @thecryptofriend . I have seen you around. Just followed you and up-voted your last post.

Whoa, that's some useful info! You sure put a lot of effort into this post. You, sir, deserve to be followed, which is what I am gonna do, lol!

The bots have notice that too, thats why you instantly get 40 votes from bots, when you post something under the #steemit.

Yes, I noticed that too. I believe that bots are good for some reasons and not so good for others. I stopped using #steemit as I am a analytical person and keep spreadsheets on the trends on my posts. Number of Votes, SBD Earnded etc. The bots screws up my stats :)

Nice @jacor
Shot you an Upvote :)

wow you did made a lot of hard work. Thanks for the information tho it really helped.

I was just looking at the list of topics and checking for specific tags which I thought might be there considering what going on in the world at this juncture. I was surprised not to see, NWO, prepping, DIY, pizza-gate, flat-earth, geoengineering, etc. There are a lot of topics which in my opinion are too general like beautiful, creative, culture, and there are a lot that are duplicate like introduce myself, introduce yourself, introduction...etc. I like to peruse the list to try to find one that represents my content rather than just making up my own. At the same time, I think it is more helpful to have specific topics rather than being too general. Then it's time to create something specific...

Very awesome topic and learn so many things...Thank you
