The trending posts are changing - for the better

in #stats8 years ago (edited)

I have been monitoring what is trending over the past few weeks as we all do. The good news is that it is becoming more diversified.

If we look at a week or so ago, due to the number of new registration, we saw that most of the posts which made the big bucks, was travel and boobs :) Not that I have a problem with boobs :)

I do however believe that the trending posts should be a true reflection of the diversity of people on the platform. I love it when posts reach high numbers in voting and in dollars! I have not experienced this as yet, but hope to be one of the few that make it through the clutter to the trending screen. It is definitely not all about the money, as I have mentioned in many of my posts, it's about the challenge of solving the riddle of how to be noticed on Steemit. Let's face it. From the time you post , you have a maximum of 45 minutes to be noticed and in that time a big hitter needs to upvote you.

An interesting post I made last night about Google just send me a USD $15 Ad Campaign. had 46 Votes in 45 Minutes, which in my books is a good hit rate. Unfortunately none of the voters had any power, which then didn't move it up the value chain. It only paid out $0,26 in the end with a total of 54 votes at the end. For some reason, people only vote on posts which already have some value. Even if it is as low as a few $$$.

However, the good thing at this point in time is that STEEMIT is changing on a weekly basis. The current trending posts are all about people adding value to the platform. Any new development which adds value to the Steemit Platform are now making the top ranks. The various websites that are rising, SteemStats, Catch a Whale , Steem Pond , The New Iphone App, only to mention a few.
The most wonderful trend that I'm seeing picking up, is that older posts are now hitting the Trending list. Look at the current trending post, Cheetah Bot: The Fight Against Span and Plagiarism Continues . I really hope we see many more of the older posts coming back up the ranks.

The only thing that is still a bit mind-boggling is how, are people supposed to get to your older posts? We definitely need more functionality around the usual social features, like a working Follow functionality where you can see who you are following and who is following you.

What about a more detailed timeline, which not only show the new posts, but also who is voting for what etc?
My few Steemcents worth :)
