Tree Tuesday - I'm Stumped
This is a post for Tree Tuesday Hosted by @old-guy-photos, and i must admit I was a bit stumped as to what to share for this challenge and a few others including my Wednesday Walk chaellenge this week, so I went for a walk through Dag Hammarskjold Plaza to see what I could get.

And of course saying I was stumped was also a play on what I got shots of for this week, not full trees but just stumps in the ground, Starting with this shot, I do love trees and know they are good for the plant, so am kind of sad when I see a stump remaining after a tree is cut down, but I thought it made for a nice twist for my post for Tree Tuesday this week.

A closer in shot of the same stump, but since @old-guy-photos also host s Monochrome Monday I went for a mix of color and mono in this shot.

And this shot is not strictly a stump the tree is still standing but I focused on the base and not the upper parts of the tree, but seeing the tree expanding over the frame, it did make me wonder if the reasons trees have perhaps died and had to be cut down, because the space is not really enough t support them.

Beautiful stump. I like the middle part. In the first photo it sort of looks like a butterfly shape in the middle. In the last photo, the rings make it look like a heart.
Its always a shame to see a tree cut down, but the patterns are always so interesting, I had not noticed the butterfly shape till you mentioned it but now I see it
I had to cut down a small pepper tree in my yard the other day. Although it had to go I was still sad to chop it down. Then I was out there again today doing something else and I found myself looking over at the stump just thinking about it.
I remember doing similar with a tree stump in our backyard as a kid I think I was kind of glad when my dad dug out the stump and happy when we planted a new tree there
Nice shots! My parents had a very large white pine tree next to their house that had to be cut down several years ago. It was really sad, it had grown to be quite tall and majestic. I used to climb in it when I was a kid. It was getting dangerous though and they had to get rid of it. In another area, it might have lived a long long time.
Thanks, it is sad when a tree that is almost part of the family has to go, but safety is more important of course
lol what a great take on a tree stump @tatoodjay. I have to say though it always make me sad to see these trees planted in such small concrete areas. They are doomed to fail, they need much more root area, right? The planter around the stump makes a great picture frame, great shots :)
ThNks and yes I totally agree if your going to put trees in a park give them space to grow and thrive and not end up with sad stumps like these
I was just thinking that. It's like the tree has been imprisoned ... and died of despair. What a terrible way to treat a living thing.
Imprisoned is so true and sad to see if they want to have trees at least give them space to grow and thrive
