Tree Tuesday - Gnarly Days
Gnarly Tree, Dude!
Back a week or so ago, I was out in the woods and came across this beauty! It's a condo high-rise, to itself. I wonder if there are some small woodpeckers living in the open knots of the missing branches, top right?
The Bark? Peeling!
All that bark on this dead, and dying tree... bet there are plenty of living things... nuthatches, woodpeckers, and other birds are finding all the little bugs eating at the open wounds...
More of my Cape Cod wanderings found here! If I was a survivalist, or bushcraft lover, this tree would be nirvana. Live itself. All the bark for either starting a fire, or for working a shelter. The dead and dying branches... all perfect kindling. the larger branches for my A Frame structure. The fresh shoots for water, or to break into tiny pieces and use in tea.

As it is, this tree is, for me, a Wonder!
The colours and textures endlessly varied.
The tree itself a living model;
Perfect in nature as a study!

Is that a birch tree? Nice shot.
