Danau laut tawar adalah danau dan kawasan wisata yg terletak didataran tinggi gayo ,Kabupaten Aceh Tengah, NAD. Disisi barat danau ini terdapat sebuah kota kabupaten yaitu kota Takengon, Yg juga merupakan juga merupakan ibukota Kabupaten AcehTengah. Suku Gayo menyebut danau ini dengan sebutan lut tawar. Luasnya kira-kira 5.472 hektare dengan panjang 17 km dan lebar 3.219 km. Volume airnya kira-kira 2.537.483.884 m³ ( 2,5 Triliun liter).

Laut Tawar Lake is a lake and tourist area located in highland gayo, central aceh district. On the west side of this lake there is a district town that is Takengo city. Which is also the capital of central Aceh district. Gayo tribe called this lake with the term lut tawar. The extend approximately 5.472 hektares with a lenght of 17 km and widht of 3.219 km. Its water voleme is approximately 2.537.483.884 m³ ( 2,5 Trillion liters).
