#LivingElSalvador. Our Short and Fast Trip to San Salvador. Monumento de Reconciliation.

in #travell6 years ago

This is our first trip to San Salvador since we got back to El Salvador, 3 months ago. It was just a short and fast trip since I had to get some paperwork done in the Canadian Embassy.

The drive is about an hour, an hour and a half (depending on the traffic) from Santa Ana and I always enjoy the ride since I love looking at the beautiful mountains and fields of either corn or sugar canes etc.
I really enjoy the ride anywhere here in El Salvador especially during the winter season or after winter season since it is so green. The views are just amazing no matter where you drive.

Because I was not driving this time, I had a chance to record some of our trip which was really short and fast but one thing I was really happy to see was the new "Monument to Reconciliation" which was built last year which calls "Not to Return to the Past" which is the historic signing of the Peace Accords after 25 years after the feat.

I already shared about Monument to Reconciliation few days ago but I'll share it again in case you missed it or if you are interested in it.

The nude woman named "Civis" (meaning citizen which represents citizenship) with a height of 12 meters. On the right-hand finger there is a ring which represents the commitment to live in peace.
The left hand is pointing with the index finger to the man dressed as a soldier and a woman (statue), a guerrilla walking towards the future and to never again face in an armed conflict.

The sculpture of man and a woman walking forward with their arms raised, are throwing some pigeons into the air which represents the desire to live in peace. This statue is about 7 meters high and made out of bronze while the pigeons are made of aluminum.

The statue didn't look or feel that big, until I got close to it just to see how big it is and I had to take the picture to demonstrate it. Well... I'm not that tall anyways (5 ft) but you can just imagine how big these statues are.

I am a great supporter of @familyprotection who is working very hard to help the families stay together and this project is the most amazing project that I would suggest for everyone on this steemit community to check it out and support it and by doing it we are helping people in need who are trying to keep their kids safe from being taken away (kidnapped) by the Social Services. Here is the link Click here

I am also a part of one of the most amazing projects here on steemit and that is #gratefulvibes project where you can also join @gratefulvibes Discord chat group, where we support the newcomers and just have an amazing time.
