My autumn hike along the Chornogora ridge. Overnight in the ruins of the observatory
After climbing the Chornogora ridge, we made a temporary halt on the nameless rocks. We had a little rest after a heavy lift. During the rest, you could not only regain strength, but also take some photos, as it was very beautiful around.
After resting, we made our way along the ridge, in the direction of Mount Pip Ivan Chornogirsky. We had to reach this mountain before dark because it was quite cold at night and we had time to break camp. I have to say that we barely made it, because we reached this summit 2 km high at dusk. We had to cook dinner using our headlamps. Good thing we had compressed gas cylinders and special equipment, because there were no firewood on top to ignite the fire.
We spent the night in the ruins of the destroyed and abandoned White Elephant Observatory, which I wrote about earlier, telling me about my first hike to the mountains. It was not a habitable stone building, but we found one room with a normal roof, so we had rain protection and the walls protected us from the piercing wind. We cleared a lot of debris from the floor and laid down some karimats there. At this point we went to bed in our winter sleeping bags. We lay down very tightly, clinging to each other. That is why the frost at -10 degrees, which was at night indoors, did not hurt us.
In the morning we woke up to dawn, with the first rays of the sun. The sunrise in the mountains was very beautiful. And the chapel, which was also at the top of the mountain, created a mystical atmosphere. I also had to wander the ruins of the observatory and dream of a time when you could look at the telescope in the starry sky. Now this building has been partially restored, but there is a rescue point for travelers.
