USA roadtrip: Chicago, America's Most Beautiful Skyline

After we have visited New York, Philadelphia, Washington we thought that from now on it would be hard for a city to impress us. But we were wrong, so wrong.

Chicago is an absolutely beautiful city with a very unique style and atmosphere. Because of its location directly beneath Lake Michigan you can easily think that you are at the sea.

With 2.7 million inhabitants Chicago is the third biggest city in the US (behind Los Angeles and New York).

The first thing why we fell in love with Chicago is the amazing skyline with its appealing architecture. There are various stylish skyscrapers but there aren’t any buildings which look similar.

The reason for this diversified architecture was the Great Fire of Chicago in 1871 which destroyed a big part of the city. After the fire many architects came to the city with experimental projects, fortunately.

A landmark of the city is the Cloud Gate, which is probably better known as the bean. The sculpture stands in the Millennium Park where you can find a lot more artworks.

Another big plus of every city is a river crossing it. The Chicago River is very nice and enhances the city. You can also paddle on the river which has to be especially at night an unforgettable experience. For St. Patrick’s Day the river is dyed green which attracts about 400.000 spectators.

In the evening we thought it was time for a pub. In the internet we read about the ** Timothy O'Toole's** pub and saw pictures of some very huge burger. We weren’t disappointed, because what we saw was what we got. Something what you won’t experience in most other burger shops.
