Feeling and getting lucky down the Lucky Chinatown
I mentioned on my Tasteem review about how I discovered Fudao along Chinatown Walk. After sating myself with the slurpy noodles, of course, the day will not be complete without me taking photos before proceeding for my mission. So walk with me along the famous walk and let us discover a little about Chinese.
Chinatown Walk is a short street. I think it is just about 300 meters long, or even less. However if you are the person who "stops and smell the flowers," it can be a couple of hours exploration. It is a commercial street with food stalls and Chinese icons. It is between Lucky Chinatown Mall and its annex building. From Reina Regente Street, turn left to the Walk itself and you will be greeted with wealth. Wealth pot, I mean. If you believe in wishing over a coin, this is your place to be.
From the stand caption, it says you can make your year prosperous by taking a coin from your pocket, blow it three times and drop it in the pot to secure luck. Really? I wonder how many coins were collected here. Well, I did not drop one...
In the middle of summer heat, you can look up to these colorful and beautiful lanterns. You would want to touch them, wish! From a distance these can be mistaken as balloons as I thought right when the Walk appeared in sight as I turned from Reina Regente Street.
Here is the Fudao stall from where I enjoyed my sea foods noodle so much.
To the right are these three Fu Lu Shu Gods. They are also known as San Xing or Three Star Gods. They enhance good fortune, happiness, prosperity and longevity. They look cute, yeah?
Know more about those Gods.
To the left are these bouncing happy Buddhas. There is Buddha with a gourd, Buddha with a fan and Buddha with a sack. The cabinet boxes in between them are drop boxes where you will drop your coin after wishing over them.
Farther down some steps, to the right are these zodiac signs. What's yours?
I am a dragon! And what does my zodiac say? It says I will become a billionaire because of #STEEM! 😃
Looking back to where I came from, the lanterns are still worth more glances. I wonder if they are lighted at night and how they look like. With all the colors coupled with lights, they must be lovely.
Let's move on... At almost to the end of the walk is this giant piggy bank. I walked passed by it and took this photo from the other side. Why, it looks mad? Look at the eye! 😃
And what do Chinese say about the piggy bank? Deposit your wish in the bank and gain it by investing in wealth, love, happiness, health and protection.
Few meters beyond the piggy bank stand is Lachambre Street. So that's the Chinatown Walk. You really have to take time to enjoy the displays and also enjoy sumptuous meals from the stalls lined along. When you drop by the area, the walk is certainly worth a visit.

Very charming and beautiful photos, @macolette! It's interesting to see those plaques with the various explanations.
Those traditions are really cool to know about. I guess there's a spelling mistake in the first plaque, it should read "To make our year prosperous..." 😂
Thanks for sharing these gorgeous photos! I loved the 3 star gods! 😎
Sometimes I don't understand others' culture but it is still amusing to know about them. The plaques helped a lot otherwise I have to do my own research for the meaning of each display.
I guess the first plaque is "talking" on exclusive second person perspective. It's talking to the reader excluding itself. 😊
Yeah, the three gods are cute.
Luh bakit never ko nakita yung drop a coin and wish thing na yan. Iba yung nakita ko nung pmunta kami nung Feb. Yung may isasabit ka. Awww. Pag nakabalik ako jan try ko un. Haha.
