Food Festival Hoi An
Hello and Happy Newyear friends and fans and followers and those who stopped by.
Here in Hoi An, people started a new tradition. In the time after Christmas and till new years, in the old town, the tourism board set up a small local food festival and a rock concert.
Local restaurants competed for rewards and prizes. This event was sponsored by the tourism board of Vietnam. This was the first year they produced it as well.
I happened to be out walking about and found myself in the middle of it when they were judging some of the vendors. So I grabbed the camera and took photos of the judging and such. :D
- There were a lot of sexy dishes presented like this one. An omelet of sorts with shoots and greens.
- Chefs also made some great Ban Mi sandwiches (*These were my favorite)!
- Here is the final product, sure it may not look that good in the photo, but rest assured, it was good int eh belly. :D
- A lot of dishes also had a nice balance of color to them. Like this lemon water. They added the liquid here to the top of one of the dishes.
- Dishes of meats and more just waiting to be used in a delicious dish!
- I think these people eating here were some sort of celebrity judges. I tried to ask a few people, but their English was not good... and my Vietnamese is not good.. so... I was a bit confused. hahaha.
- A lot of other people also wanted to take photos of the foods presented here. It was a mix of hands and cameras.
- The chiefs also took a moment to talk to about their dishes, however again.. my Vietnamese was not good so who knows.. they could have been telling jokes... I just assumed they were talking about their dishes.
- The Festival was adorned with lanterns and colorful flags that I was told is traditional.
- These were a nice touch to the event as well. The lanterns springing out of the bamboo shoots. I also did a lot of work in the past at events, so my "hazard/potential lawsuit" eyes are well trained. The exposed power cord, I was like ... hmm.. that is a lawsuit waiting to happen.. but this is Vietnam. no one seems to cair that much... and, no one tripped on it Hahahah. The west is too much about putting people in play cribs and not letting them live.
- Well, it was a lovely event with some nice people and great food.
