Tbilisi, Georgia - The story about the traveling band Caspian Caravan and the Journey Over Land to India, Chapter 12

in #travelfeed6 years ago

Welcome again to the story about when I travelled overland to India with a band, funding all our expenses with music. A journey that took 1 year and 8 months, through 32 countries!
Previous Episode: Goodbuy Turkey, Hello georgia, about leaving Turkey to venture into Georgia, first arriving in Batumi and then hitchiking through Georgia to Tblisi.

In this part we are still in Tbilisi, the Georgian capital.

Buying bread in Georgia is always a great experience..! They bake them on the side of these wood fired clay ovens and fetch them with a hook when they are baked
Just borrowed a picture from https://georgiaphiles.wordpress.com/2013/01/16/georgian-cuisine-a-visual-guide/ to show how cool it looks (I didn't take one myself aparently):

So in Tbilisi we were couchsurfing in a hostel - yes, staying for free in a hostel, with our great host Data. On the terms that we would leave in case of "real customers"! So we stayed for a while, with the crazy georgians and their drinking culture, which all ended up in an open air rave party by a lake outside the town...

at the open air rave party..

But everything went a bit crazy then and it was also time to leave the hostel! Luckily we've met a lot of people at our stay and we got invited to stay with 3 latvians staying at a flat in Tbilisi.

The latvians were all nature guide students and were staying in Tbilisi studying and doing nature trips! And they took us on a great adventure trip with tasks and games in the nature around Tbilisi

games of logic..

Me and my boat for the boat race competition!

boat race!

We walked through the mountains and met many friendly creatures :)

We just got a few drops of rain

Beautiful tower just standing there alone in the hills

Matt inside the tower. Here our task was to create a song for our team!

"Team Equality" performing their song!

back down through the flowers

Washing in the river at the end of the trip

and straight back into the concrete jungle!

But the city has it's beauty too, with these ancient sulfur baths! Actually the name Tbilisi in old Georgian literally means "warm location" and was given to the city because of the area's numerous sulphuric hot springs.

These very old baths are amazingly beautiful and you could rent a room fairly cheap, which we did and shared! Such a great experience! All the hot water comes from natural hot springs.
I didn't jump in with my camera, so I don't have any pictures from inside, but I'd really recommend anyone to visit these baths!

of course we did some busking in Tbilisi too, in between all the parties, baths and nature walks! I think our time in Tbilisi was some of the more luxurious on the trip

View from the Latvian's flat. I really like those old structures, in spite of the fact that they don't look so steady.. but I guess that's part of the charm!

me on a late morning I guess.. ;)

And that must be all for now! In the next chapter we're back on the road again, with a bit more adventure ;D

Thank you for stopping by! <3
