#1 The Namib Desert – an otherworldly landscape

@digi-me goes to the deserts in Namibia to see some of the world's highest sand dune. Her journey starts off with a selfie stop at the Tropic of Capricon, and climbing up at 150m high sand dune to watch the sunrise. The highlight of her trip is the Sossusvlei, a huge clay pan enclosed by giant sand dunes. She arrived just after sunrise which provided the perfect photo opportunity for this already stunning landscape. With its white cracked floor and 500 year old fossil trees sticking out of the ground, the whole place looks absolutely surreal.

#2 Exploring Auschwitz

@slobberchops visited the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland when he went to SteemFest recently. This infamous site is massive and many of the buildings were torn down when the allied forces advanced. Some were still retained allowing us to understand the atrocities that happened there. @slobberchops does a great, and no doubt difficult job with his black and white photos to tell us some of the terrible things that happended at the camp. There are others that he saw and wish he never did hence didn't take any photos. Photos or not, in his words, "What happened needs to be seen so that it can never happen again."

#3 Bathed in moss Honen-in Temple

For our last featured post, @kocinka takes us to a temple in Japan that is only open to the public twice a year for two weeks. They stumbled onto the Honen-in temple by chance and were the only visitors there. Zen gardens are a popular type of Japanese gardens and they rely on moss living on the gravel and large stones for moisture. The garden at the temple is all covered in moss adding a mysterious feel to the place. Many famous people are buried in the cemetry here and I am sure they will find peace. Check out @kocinka's post for more about this beautiful gem.
