#1 [My 3 months in Pakistan] Northern areas + 40 pictures

For our first featured post of today @matkodurko takes us to the Northern part of Pakistan. It does not only hold the most deadly and second highest mountain in the world, but also the most pristine parts of Pakistan. On the drive to the town of Muzaffarabad, you'll drive through the stunning green mountain countryside. Arriving at the town on the Himalayan hillside, it's easy to go straight into nature. @matkodurko has an amazing encounter with a family, living a simple, pure life, not bothered by the troubles of the modern world. The furthest the family had traveled in twenty years was to a town 30 minutes away by feet. The next day it is time to visit the Khagan Valley, you can feel a change in the people here as well, as the conditions are rough. The valley itself will make you feel utterly tiny yet completely at peace. Next up is the Saif Ul Malook Lake, the pride of all Pakistanis, and once you see it, it is easy to see why. With some almost mystical allurement to it.

#2 Wildlife of Mto wa Mbu village

For our second featured post @derangedvisions is taking us to Mto wa mbu, a village in Tanzania. Whilst being here working in a clinic, luckily for us @derangedvisions still found time to explore the area! This village is brimming with wildlife, monkeys and baboons run amok and steal food and other items left outside, whilst cranes are up in the tree tops! Ending up face to face with a big baboon, can be quite the scary experience and is exactly what happens to @derangedvisions! Close by the village you'll find Lake Manyara, which Ernest Hemmingway called the loveliest lake of Africa, quite the compliment!

#3 Dharamsala, Or, Should I say "McLeod Ganj?"

For the last featured post of today @liquidtravel takes us to Dharamsala, India. The name comes from the shelters built for pilgrims on their journey to spiritual destinations. Today Dharamsala is made up out of two distinctly different areas, separated by 5.5 miles or 9km. In lower Dharamsala, you'll find everything you'd expect to find in a small Indian town. Most visitors however are more interested in upper Dharamsala as it is where the exiled Tibetan government and the Dalai Lama reside. A destination now known to volunteer with the Tibetan community, learn about Buddhism, meditation and yoga, trek in the mountains and shop for Tibetan crafts. The temperature here can vary wildly depending on what time of the year you arrive, from just below freezing to incredibly hot. @liquidtravel also provides us with a list of places that you definitely should not miss if you make it here! Whilst for many visitors, upper Dharamsala or McLeod Ganj might be little more than a backpackers and spiritual dropout hub, the Tibetan culture is very visible everywhere and the combination of spiritual, commercial and natural beauty all in one place make it well worth a visit.
