Travel Pro Hang Out Hot Spot #5: Salad Concept in Chiang Mai Thailand!
Hey there my Steemit friends. There are some places that are good to eat at and there are some places that are good to hang out at. Well here in Chiang Mai the Salad Concept is good for both! At first glance you just know this place is going to attract a lot of travelers. Heck the sign is totally in English and it's right in the area of where all the travelers congregate.
Being a budget traveler I get a little weary of places like this. So often when a business's target customers are tourists they jack the prices up in a big way. Well the huge salad you see below was only two dollars and fifty cents! I just love Chiang Mai! Even the tourist traps are cheap. Sure you can get a bowl of noodle soup for less than a dollar but when two dollars and fifty cents is splurging it's not a big deal.
Besides it being priced well, good western style salads are actually really hard to find in Thailand. With all the foreigners in this city, no wonder they were doing so much business. They were basically the only good salad in town. The place was clean and there were always plenty of fellow travelers here you could easily strike up a conversation with.
Along with good wifi, good food, a very clean and modern dining area, it was air conditioned too. This made for a great place to get out of the mid-day heat, have a healthy salad, and meet fellow travelers. The Salad Concept is located just outside of the north east corner of old town along the moat. Now let's take a look at this place a bit closer!

Too bad I didn't get to read this before I visited CNX. We joined the lantern festival last November. Chiang Mai is such a charming city. We even drove up to Doi Ang Khang as well. I prefer western foods and I agree that it is hard to find in Thailand. Good ones are really expensive for me (I am based in Phuket).
Nice. @flipstar is in phuket too. Maybe you'd want to reach out to him. I try to eat the local food, especially in Asia. But then again I prefer asian food over western food in general. I'm a bit strange like that. Thanks so much for your comment. Hope to see you again soon! -Dan

It's very true about Western style salads and not being able to get them here in Thailand for cheap. Although, it's not hard to get a few greens in the market/supermarket and create your own. However, creating a Caesar or Greek salad will cost you quite a bit - it's the cheese that's expensive here.
We go to 'Salad Factory' to get these type of salads for a reasonable price. They give you a big bowl of salad too! It's a chain, so you can find it around Bangkok at least.
Great info to add onto my post. Thank you for that. Yes, cheese, the Thais don't really do dairy in general do they! lol
You're welcome! Yes, it's not really in their diet, but globalization has changed that. Plus trends like organic and farm produces are stimulating some demand for diary as well as tourist/company sites like Choke Chai Farm, which demonstrate 'how farms work' create curiosity.
Yes, I too have noticed how things all over the world have gotten more and more "westernized". You've got a lot of great info. Thanks for sharing!
