Being in Poland for a wedding was the main reason of my visit in this beautiful country. Arrived on Thursday evening I have already described how we spent time in the way to fight the high temperature in this post.

Yesterday was the wedding day... so we went to Krakow to the church first and then to the restaurant. The weather wasn't good... was raining and this in part was making me sad... but for the other part I was pleased as I was wearing a smart suit and the tie that with 30+ degrees could make me in trouble.

After a quick mess we went to the restaurant and we toke sit were our name was written... this time the vodka bottle were not already on the table so I was happy thinking that finally I didn't have to drink so much. Time 10 minutes... few guys came and gave us 1 bottle of pure Polish Vodka for each 4 people. Now if you consider that 500 ml are more than enough within 4 people... you have to consider what kind of people were sitting on my table.... all children and girls (my girlfriend and sisters) and only in 3 were actually drinking.

As tradition someone will invite you to drink and you cannot refuse

So I started eating and drinking vodka as shot... with the guy close to me... with my father in law and everyone else was coming to drink with me. I am not saying a lie... more than 4 bottles were gone within 2 hours.

Talking about the food, as tradition the first plate served is "Rosół" sorry for the bad spelling... it is a chicken soup served with a bit of pasta. I love this dish it is very nice. Following you will have a plate with meat... and then again meat meat and meat. If you are vegetarian... avoid those weddings because there is no way to eat other things. LOL.

For whom love dancing... there are so many Polish songs to dance that you will not get bored. If instead you are like me... you go out to take a bit of fresh air and my girlfriend cousin invited me to drink vodka and then again and again. Gosh so much for a single evening.

The good thing is that at least I had a full belly :D

After few hours we went to sleep in the room on the first floor so I didn't have to drive back home in bad condition. The morning after (this morning) I had in program to visit Krakow, a city that anyway I have visited 3 times... deserve always and again a visit.

I matrimoni Polacchi come da titolo non sono eventi per tutti quanti. Con questo cosa voglio dire? Beh... continuate a leggere e ne trarrete le conclusioni da soli.

Come vi avevo già accennato dal primo post, la temperatura era bella alta e si stava benissimo a parte la notte... comunque la ragione principale della mia vacanza in Polonia era appunto il matrimonio che si e' tenuto ieri.

Dopo esserci preparati per l'evento ed aver guidato 1 ora e mezza per raggiungere Cracovia, arriviamo davanti alla chiesa ed inizia a piovere sempre più forte. Ma fa nulla... meglio cosi visto che avevo il vestito e la cravatta... per lo meno potevo respirare un po'.

Dopo una breve messa di circa 45 minuti... almeno l'ultima a cui ho assistito durò 1 ora e mezza con 38 gradi all'ombra... fu una tortura micidiale. Comunque dopo la messa siam andati come si usa fare anche da noi in Italia, in una sala ricevimenti dove avremmo mangiato, bevuto e ballato.

Una volta che ci siam resi conto dove dovevamo sederci e consapevole di quello che mi sarebbe successo... stavo già guardando sui tavoli per vedere quante bottiglie di vodka avevano messo. Stranamente non c'era neanche una bottiglia e la cosa mi stava rassicurando dato che come e' ben saputo ai matrimoni Polacchi la vodka regna sovrana. Purtroppo per me, non appena ci siam seduti, i camerieri hanno iniziato a portare le bottiglie di vodka che venivano posizionate ogni 4 persone. Ora come avrete visto dalla foto della vodka a 40gradi.. mezzo litro in 4 persone e' tanto... se poi aggiungiamo il fatto che oltre a questo accanto a me c'erano solo bambini e ragazze ( la mia ragazza, le sorelle e qualche cugina) la situazione stava precipitando.

Come per tradizione se qualcuno ti invita a bere... e' maleducazione rifiutare e quindi mi son trovato fregato perché accanto a me c'era il fidanzato della cugina della mia ragazza che secondo me come professione alza il gomito; dietro di me mio suocero che mi invitava a bere ogni 3 minuti... insomma ero brillo e decido di uscire a prendere un po' d'aria fresca.

Una volta fuori dal ristorante... non vuoi che stava la cugina della mia ragazza che stava parlando con altre signore e mi fa... bene adesso iniziamo a bere. Ci siam sparati una bottiglia di mezzo litro di vodka in 20 minuti.

Fortuna vuole che cmq nel frattempo io stessi mangiando senno' sarei morto. Cucina tipica Polacca prevede un brodino di pollo con della pastina come piatto tipico e poi un sacco di carne. Cotolette e altri tipi di carne come nella foto venivano serviti.

Fortuna vuole che avevamo una stanza per dormire sopra la sala ricevimenti senno' non so proprio come sarei riuscito a tornare a casa intatto.

In programma c'era l'idea di restare a Cracovia che nonostante l'avessi visitata 3 volte... non mi stanca mai. E' proprio una bella città che vi consiglio di visitare. Purtroppo tutta la notte e la mattina stessa ha piovuto come se non ci dovesse essere un domani. Nell'hotel sembrava stessimo dormendo a ridosso di una cascata per quanta pioggia c'era.

Comunque se tutto va bene ritorno martedì a Cracovia e faccio delle foto e ve le mostro. Troppo bellina da non andarci di nuovo.
