Quirky Los Angeles; The Arts District pt 2; The Main Drag

The area around Traction and 3rd Street is a major hub of activity in the Arts District; one of my favorite neighborhoods in Los Angeles. I find myself there often enough for a workshop or gallery exhibit; so I know it pretty well.

Depending on where you are in the Arts District you might want to catch a Lyft from one side to the other; especially at night. I posted about the area South of 4th Street a few days ago.

On the corner of Traction and Alameda is Angel City Brewery A gigantic delightful bar with creative games, art exhibits and a currently unusable slide.

I often visit Angel City after attending a workshop, performance or opening at Artshare LA A multi-use facility, with a gallery, theater, classrooms and low-cost live/work space for artists.

Before I attend a figure drawing workshop at Artshare LA; I often grab a bite at The Piehole

I am rarely disappointed and it is a comfortable place to draw.

Hauser and Wirth is another large complex on 3rd street. It contains 4 high class galleries, a restaurant, a shop, a courtyard and garden; complete with chickens and elaborate sculptures.

Wurstkuche Is a fun bar/restaurant that features bizarre and fascinating sausages and three dollar beer specials. It can get loud so keep in mind you can sit outside.

Arts District Brewing Company Has good beer; and extremely good burgers. Can get crowded during peek hours but it is a nice place to chill other times.

If you view the Brewery on the map you can see there is so much nearby. A Barcade named "Eighty-Two", a shopping complex and Little Toyko are among the fun places you can visit nearby.
