Why long-term travel is different than you expect - Warum Langzeitreisen anders ist als du annimmst

It's different, some would say it was a nightmare for them. Others are open to it and understand it. Why do many people think so differently?

Let's start all over again
Everyone goes on holiday, even with their children. Who doesn't do that?
Almost no matter which country, you can go on holiday there with your child, right? 99.9999% will now agree with me. No problem with a child and it does the child good, not only the parents.

The moment you say you're going with your family to Bali, Australia, Europe, America, and so on. Everybody envies you on vacation. Everybody says how great it is and you do it right. Treat yourself to a holiday, take time off from consumption and stress at work.

If we change only a small part of it, however, by saying that we travel around the world, the situation looks completely different. 99.999% of the people (I hope less) don't envy you anymore, but hopeless accusations come. One is not completely clean in the head....

But what's so different between a holiday and a one-year trip to the same holiday destinations?

It's the fear of the people
Being away from home for a whole year, no, that's impossible. Not for most people. Vacation YES - permanent state clear NO. We don't have the courage. A lot of things are the same. You get on the plane, go to your accommodation, look at the sights. With the exception, however, that you can integrate better into the country during the long trip.

In the first few days you will be a tourist in many traps as an 0815 tourist, but as a long-term traveller you are already so prepared that many things will never happen to you again. You know the rules of the country, how to behave towards the locals and the law. You are trained over time to walk through the potholes of the traps, where other holidaymakers fall mercilessly into it. With a tired smile, most traps and ropes can't touch you anymore.

But that's exactly what most people don't see
Because most people assume that your level of knowledge remains unchanged. But it's not like that. But I understand the fear, because there is too little time for holidays in which you don't have time to feel your way into the country. You don't realize that it's different when you're there much longer.

Everyone will be better the more often there is some power
Exactly! That's how it is, the more you do a thing, the better you get in it, no matter what it is.

There have always been people who have traveled around the world, because otherwise there would be no human beings in the most different races. People moved around the planet many years ago and settled in different places. Why should it be different today?

Es ist anders, manche würde sagen, es wäre für sie ein Albtraum. Andere wiederum sind offen dafür und verstehen es. Warum denken viele Menschen so unterschiedlich?

Fangen wir ganz von vorne an
Jeder geht in den Urlaub, auch mit seinen Kindern. Wer macht das nicht...
Fast egal welches Land, du kannst dort auch mit deinem Kind Urlaub machen, stimmts? Da werden mir nun 99,9999% zustimmen. Mit Kind kein Problem und es tut dem Kind auch gut, nicht nur den Eltern.

In dem Moment wo du sagst, du geht mit deiner Familie nach Bali, Australien, Europa, Amerika ect. In den Urlaub beneidet dich jeder. Jeder sagt, wie toll es ist und du es richtig machst. Gönn dir den Urlaub, gönn dir die Auszeit vom Konsum und Stress bei der Arbeitstelle.

Verändern wir aber nur einen kleinen Teil davon, indem wir sagen wir reisen um die Welt, sieht die Sache schon wieder ganz anders aus. 99,999% der Menschen ( ich hoffe weniger ) beneiden dich nicht mehr, sondern es kommen hoffnungslose Vorwürfe. Man sei nicht ganz sauber im Kopf...

Was ist nun aber so anders daran, zwischen Urlaub und einer einjährigen Reise an die gleichen Urlaubsziele?

Es ist die Angst der Leute
Ein ganzes Jahr weg zu sein von Zuhause, nein das geht nicht. Nicht für die meisten Menschen. Urlaub JA – Dauerzustand klares NEIN. Dazu fehlt der Mut. Dabei ist vieles gleich. Du steigst in den Flieger, gehst zu deiner Unterkunft, schaust dir die Sehenswürdigkeiten an. Mit der Ausnahme aber, dass du bei der Langzeitreise dich besser in das Land integrieren kannst.

Wo du in den ersten Tagen als 0815 Tourist in viele Fallen tappst, bist du als Langzeitreisender schon so gewappnet dass viele Dinge dir nicht mehr passieren. Du kennst die Regeln des Landes, das Verhalten gegenüber den Einheimischen und den dem Gesetz. Du bist mit der Zeit darauf trainiert, doch durch die Schlaglöcher der Fallen durch zu begeben, wo andere Urlauber gnadenlos hineinfallen. Mit einem müden Lächeln können die meisten Fallen und Stricke dir nichts mehr anhaben.

Aber genau dass sehen die meisten nicht
Denn die meisten nehmen an, dein Stand des Wissens bleibt unverändert. Aber so ist es nicht. Aber ich verstehe die Angst, denn zu kurz sind Urlaube, in denen man keine Zeit hat sich in das Land hinein zu fühlen. Man erkennt nicht, dass es aber anders ist, wenn man viel länger dort ist.

Jeder wird besser je öfters es etwas Macht
Genau! So ist es auch, je öfters du eine Sache machst, desto besser wirst du darin, egal was es ist.

Es hat schon immer Menschen gegeben, die um die Welt gereist sind, denn sonst gäbe es uns Menschen in den verschiedensten Rassen nicht. Die Menschen sind vor vielen Jahren um den Planeten gezogen und haben sich an verscheidenen Stellen niedergelassen. Warum sollte es heute anders sein?
