MYKONOS – island of beautiful beaches, unique arhitecture and crazy nightlife

Mykonos is an island in Greece, it lies southeast from capital city Athens. Island is very popular among celebrities and movie stars. What makes island so special is amazing arhitecture. On the whole island you can see just white houses with colorfull fences all in same style, even groceries and gas stations have to blend in with the environment. I liked that a LOOT! Because it makes a view all over the island magnificent.

Most of the people, when they hear about Mykonos, say »ohh no, too expensive«, but if you know where to eat, where to stay, you can have a preety luxury vacation for afordable price. And thats what we wanted!  

Food there is amaziinng! We litterally didnt eat bad, all the meals were delicious and not to pricey. We rented a house, just above Mykonos port, which is about 5 min north from Mykonos town (where pretty much everything is going down).  

Renting a car down there is a MUST, or at least a motorbike, cause even though Mykonos is a small island, distance between the beaches, clubs, bars and houses are quite to long to walk. We payed 30 EUR per day for a car, a motorbike is 15 EUR , but during our stay there were few days of rain, so car was a better choice for us.  

We spent the most time in a Mykonos town. We were impressed by the beauty of this small town. Unique architecture and small boutiques give you the feeling that the time has stopped. When exploring the streets of Mykonos, you are literally lost half of the time, because all the streets look the same, but at the end you always discover something new. Maybe a new hidden bar, or a nice boutique, or just a nice place to sit down, relax and enjoy the view.

A must when visiting Mykonos is to see The Mykonos windmills - the iconic feature of Greek island and Little Venice, where the waves literally splash the water in the bars, which are located directly by the sea.

Besides great architecture, nice bars and restaurants, Mykonos offers beautiful beaches with crystal clean water. We spent the most time on Paradise beach, which is a hot-spot for all the young travelers. There are two clubs on the beach, and the other one - the most prestigious one - Cavo Paradiso - right on the cliffe above the beach. Paradise beach also offers deckchairs and nice food and drinks for adequate price.

Parties are what Mykonos is very famous about among young people, they host the most famous DJ's every year, during the summer. Party is great, but for a party you need a little extra wallet with you, cause a single drink in a club, goes from 10-15EUR.   

Personally I loved the island, because it's small (15 kilometres wide) and you have pretty much everything withing 10 min of driving, no matter where you stay. Because I am a food lover, obviously there were a lot of great restaurants, where we had amazing meat dishes, fish, pizza, pasta, sushi and of course their most famous, Gyros.
