Hi Steemers! Earlier this year my boyfriend and I visited Egypt for our first time... and it was nothing short of amazing!

Egypt was always on my wish list but due to safety issues it always put me off a little bit. However the desire to go just kept getting stronger so we just decided to DO IT!

We did some research and found a tour company that we liked the itinerary of and that had a good reputation. We went with On the Go tours and true to their name we were on the go the whole time! We covered pretty much all of Egypt. From the port town of Alexandria, down to Abu Simbel near the border of Sudan, and everything in between. Due to our schedule, the only chance we had to visit Luxor Temple was at night..

.. I think this was a major win for us! Not all Egyptian temples are open at night so it was great to have the opportunity to see this ancient temple by moonlight.

Extra bonus for us because it was a full moon 🌚!

At the main entrance, there is a 25m (80ft) obelisk, there used to be two but the second obelisk now calls Paris home. This temple dates back to around 1392 BC and back then Luxor was known as the ancient city of Thebes.

All the mud brick houses and palaces have disappeard from Thebes but their stone temples have survived the test of time. Luxor Temple is considered the most beautiful of these temples and is located parallel to the Nile along the east bank.

Back in the day this Avenue of Sphinxes went for over 3kms (approx 1 and half miles) and connected the temples of Luxor and Karnak.. Obviously it doesn't anymore but that doesn't make it any less impressive!

So if you're ever in Egypt, make sure you head South and check out this beautiful temple - day or night! Thanks for stopping by ✌
