The Geek Explores #1 : Mantayupan Falls in Barili, Southern Cebu

A part of me is a wanderlust. Ever since I was a kid, I really love going to different places. And so one sunny Sunday, my boyfriend and I decided to go to Mantayupan falls in Barili. Barili is a town located approximately 60 kilometers southwest of Cebu. The falls is located on one of its barangay, around 10 minutes away from the Poblacion.

Mantayupan falls is consist of two falls, the first one is of 98 meters high and the second one is 14 meters high (as written on the entrance). As I've observed, most of the people prefer to stay on the first falls. Probably because the swimming area is bigger compared to the second oh.

And oh! The water is really cold. Before you could reach the first falls,you'd have to cross over their hanging bridge. It's well built, so don't be afraid to cross it.

Also, you really have to cross it because there's no other way to get to the first falls. Once you get to the first falls, there are tables for rent but you could just place you things over the big rocks but just be sure to keep an eye on it.
How to Get to Mantayupan Falls:
- From Cebu City, take a jeepney or taxi to South Bus terminal.
- From there, hop on to any bus bound for Bato via Barili. Fare is around Php 80 - 100. The trip takes 2 to 3 hours, depending on the traffic.
- Tell the conductor to drop you off at Shamrock Barili (no need to worry, this is a known bus stop)
- Take habal - habal (bike taxi) to Mantayupan falls, fare would be around Php 20.
Rates :
- Entrance Fee : Php 20 / pax
- Table Rental : Php 200 - 300
Tips:
- Before you head to Mantayupan falls, make sure to buy foods at Poblacion. There's only limited food available at Mantayupan falls.
- If you are on a one day trip only, last trip back to Cebu City from Samboan is 7PM. So be sure to head back to Poblacion before 7PM.
