Special Places #1: The Castle of Predjama
Since I'm still a newbie here, maybe you don't know yet, but I have a great curiosity about different places and that they make a big difference in the region to which they belong. A new rubric, of course, this time, I will tell you about the Castle of Predjama.
A Unique Place
The first impact is very interesting! It's unique and quite different. It looks like a mask on one side. This castle was built on a mountain in the village of Predjama between the Adriatic coast and the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana.
Put in the shoes of an invader during medieval times, they certainly would not want to be in their skin, for the fortress was created even so that all the bows and beasts were pointed in one direction, ie, all the people who try to invade, they never succeeded. Underneath the walls, there is still a watercourse, an underground stream, which passes through a system of caves.
The Trip to Slovenia
I do not consider myself a traveler yet, but one day I want to know different places in the world, and from what I investigated, you have to pay about 10 dollars for a guided visit, but with regard to the caves, there is very little information on the price of them.
To complete the post, one can say that the first record that exists of the castle is of the 12th century, but it is said that perhaps appeared in 13th century, because all the registries of castles only appeared a century later. Among the greatest adventures of the castle, it is known that the owner even killed a dangerous enemy to get in trouble. He was so powerful that the Austro-Hungarian emperors decided to punish him, and he then took refuge in the castle.
It turns out that there was a command from a lord, Gastpar Ravbar, to attempt to invade the castle, but for months he never succeeded, and he wondered how the owner managed to have so much stock of food and water stored in the castle.
Of course, nothing lasts forever, and Erasmus(the owner) was hit sooner or later. That was the end of it.
It was later revealed that the castle had a series of secret passages that allowed to bring all sorts of things through the caves. For those who need the exact coordinates here have:
