The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen Review: Part 2 - Candy Smith Emporium Store and Milkshake BarsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #travel7 years ago

In case you haven't heard about it, it's 19th-century Steampunk meets Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory, a chocoholic's wonderland called "The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen" at Universal Studios Orlando.

Last week I posted the first part of my review of this deliciously themed restaurant, with a spotlight on the restaurant and food. This week I will conclude with a peek into the front-end shops inside it. You're challenge should you choose to accept... walk around inside this place for 10 minutes and try not to buy something. Good Luck!

Part 2: The Candy Smith Emporium Store and Milkshake Bar

Just like the restaurant itself, the Candy Smith Emporium Store is fully themed with Steampunk gears and gizmos, display mannequins playing the part, and store attendants dressed in character from head to toe. Even in the hustle and crowds, never once did I hear any of the staff throw out a negative or disrespectful tone to any of the guests - even those nagging over the wait time. It WAS the 4th of July weekend, crowds were to be expected.

Steampunk theme and styling through the store.

The display cases wrap around on the right side of the lobby area and featured row after row of chocolate treats, desserts, and pastries. Macaroons lined the first display in a rainbow of 16 different colors and flavors. Theme park priced, of course, at $20 for a box of six.

As I started to take a few pictures through the glass, the girl behind the counter said to me in a 'Western Frontier' voice, "No, no, no, If you take a picture of my macaroons, you will have to buy a box".

I replied, "Just one box"?

She gave a little smile back.

CLICK! I bought a box.

Our selection: Strawberry Cream, German Chocolate, Apple Pie, Peanut Butter, Hazelnut, Cookies and Creme.

Just next to the macaroons were the chocolates, and our son was all over that one. I don't remember which ones he chose, because he refused to share them with me. I was only able to sneak a bite of the peanut butter filled one - my weakness.

Chocolate, soooooo much chocolate.

As you walk around the store there were endless displays and shelves of themed chocolates, candies and souvenirs. So much of it looked too good to eat.

On the other side is the Milkshake Bar. By this time we were stuffed from dinner, dessert, and trying chocolates from the store and did not have room for milkshakes. We did however, swing by the next evening and grabbed a few to go on our way back to the resort.

The milkshakes are delicious, but very heavy and filling. Halfway through we started to question if we should have shared a few instead of each getting our own, but you keep drinking anyway because it's that good. We will "walk it off" tomorrow, right?

There was a line, about 15 minutes to finally get to the counter, but it was well worth it.

All-in-all, this is a very unique restaurant serving up a very unique experience. If you plan to be at Universal Studios Orlando in the near future, I highly recommend you swing by The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen, you won't be disappointed.

Oh, my. I would be lost in there for hours! I think that place has been put in my bucket list. Everything looked amazing, and you're right...I'm not sure you could go in there and NOT buy anything (especially if you are in there with children). Thanks for sharing and opening my eyes to what could be if only I would visit Universal Studios!

Also, I forgot to mention...the photography was beautiful!

Thank you. For sure! It's one of those places you lose track of time in and yes, with my son - a zillion things to watch him with. Touching this , wanting that, literally a kid in a candy store.

I'd probably need a chaperone for myself for the same reason...I'm way too much of a kid! I can't seem to get out of any gift shop we encounter without an armful (or truck full!) of things, so chocolate...I'd need an extra carry on bag just for that!

Excuse me.. you can't bring a shopping cart into the park.

But, you don't understand, I'm going shopping at the chocolate store. :-)

Lol, yes!! I guess I could bring the double stroller and make the kids walk? That could work too.

You know how true that statement actually is... we saw a few times last week where the stroller was full of "park things" like plush toys they won, bags from the universal store, etc and the kid was dragging along complaining they were tired of walking. It was too funny.

Nice photography and yummy food i like it.

Thank you @adityayadav - It is a great themed restaurant, and very good food indeed.

@minnowbooster, this was a test of your service to see how well it works out. Not so good to be honest. A $5 SBD test investment yielded a $4.96 vote, factor in the curator/author split and natural decay - this becomes a big loss. Your vote power is around 33%, you claim 26% is the break even point. Not so much.

edit - in chatting with @reggaemuffin today, it was explained that the vote stucture had to be adjusted based on HF19 and STEEM pricing, etc. 50% vote power is about break even, lower and a loss is likely. keep that in mind and check before taking part. I will wait that out and try in the future on another post.

I answered your other comment

It's the yummy steampunk chocolate place you gave us a sneak peek of the other day :)

That place is pure evil I tell ya... delicious, chocolate-covered evil. :-)

yummy yummy ... this is paradise <3
i love it

Hi Meliodas, it certainly is :-) if you're every in Orlando, it's a good place to check out.

Oh. My. Gawd.
I think I just gained 10 pounds looking at this post!
That chocolate sculpture is OUTRAGEOUS!
I wonder what it would be like to be surrounded by chocolate all day? Would I be addicted or would I eventually be disgusted by that rich sweetness. Oh, I would never want to find out but my eyes can feast on this. :)

Lol, just the smell of chocolate and sweets coimg out of the doors as you approach it is lure enough. They know it too. No escaping it. But it's such a fun place to eat.

When my husband and I owned a deli we prayed for windy days because the smell of bacon moved through the neighborhood like wild fire. I can't tell you how many people said they weren't going to stop except... BACON! lol
I suppose the chocolate store would hypnotize me too.

That's awesome. lol. Subliminal sales tactics. I love it.
