Georgetown is known as the heart of the Penang, the oldest part of City lies close to Weld Quay, the old docks and is recognised by as World UNESCO Heritage Site primarily due to the fact that walking down the streets of Georgetown is like walking through the paths of history

As acknowledgement of its well-preserved cultural and historical heritage, much of the colors and structure of these will leave you in awe of the splendour that Penang once enjoyed during its history as a trading hub of Straits of Malacca in Southeast Asia

Top 3 Attractions in Georgetown to must Visit

Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion

The mansion was originally built with careful attention to the principles of Feng Shui. Built by master craftsmen brought in especially from China, who used their skills to fashion the mansion with 38 rooms, 5 granite-paved courtyards, 7 staircases and 220 windows

One of Penang’s most prominent attractions, this mansion is known by the name of ''Cheong Fatt Tze'' build in the 1880s but really make it stands out is the decidedly expressive indigo-blue facade. This traditional Home is a conservation project that went on to win numerous architectural awards

Clan Jetties

Located straight down from Lebuh Chulia, the Clan Jetties – a series of six jetties that form part of the Penang Heritage Trail

Clan Jetty is unique Chinese settlements that have been around since the 19th century. Spend your time here walking along the wooden pier are villages on stilts that house the descendants of Chinese immigrants

The clan jettys give you a look at a completely different style of life. This was the top of my list to visit in Penang and it didn't disappoint. The jettys aren't massively expansive but they give you a nice look at a very peaceful way of life

Armenian Street

Armenian Street is a narrow street within the city of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Located within the city's UNESCO World Heritage Site, the road has gained popularity in recent years for its rich cultural offerings and street art

It derives its name from an Armenian family who once stayed at the junction of the now Armenian Street and Beach Street in the early part of the 19th century. The street is the venue of the weekly Armenian Street Fair

This lively town has it all, when it comes to Shopping, Street Art, Religious Places of worship, Museums and delicious local food to be discovered when wandering around the streets with plenty of Activities nearby

Beyond the old town which remains UNESCO Heritage Site, George Town is also embracing a modern city with skyscrapers and shopping malls, it's best to join guided walking tours to view the heritage sites within the city or hire a trishaw (tricycle rickshaw) to take you around town

A melting of gold when comes to Culture, locals are a fantastic mix of Chinese, Indian and Malay people, each social group has their own heritage, architecture, religion and food dishes. See it to believe it, visit the different parts of town to get a better feel of this charming city like Weld Quay Ferry Port, Little India, or China Town

To navigate around this Heritage Site, you will definitely need a map because getting around Town is extremely time-consuming and to many a huge let down, since you don't want to end up in the wrong site of island or get lost in hetic Crowds or Traffic

Expect a lot of Walking as it's the most convenient way to get around town, however innovative public transport like Bike Sharing services offer an alternative way to explore the streets

It's because of Georgetown, Penang is being listed as a must visit holiday destinations because of it's Rich history and number of activities. You can't say you visited Penang without setting foot in this Town, so we recommend all Travelers to explore this particular area by sight-seeing

Hiring a Tour Guide would be advisable as you'll likely get lost around the Town, but you should take your time to enjoy all the small activities like by visiting multiple small museums, eating Street food and perhaps take photos of street murals left behind by Artist

You’ll experience Georgetown’s mixture of cultures and faiths, customs and traditions, smells and sights, and along with the historical architecture, galleries, boutiques, street art and if you get hungry, there is a excellent variety of eateries along the way

Without doubt, a wander through the streets of Penang’s UNESCO heritage zone should be top of any Travelers to-do list

Awesome...Georgetown is a historic neighborhood, commercial, and entertainment district , the port of Georgetown predated the establishment of the federal district and the City of Washington by 40 years.

This is Georgetown in Penang, Malaysia! But yeah, there are many ''Georgetown'' around the World actually!
