Penang Botanical Gardens

Penang Botanical Gardens also known as Waterfall Gardens, is an iconic public attraction that is located in a valley along Jalan Kebun Bunga. It is a well-landscaped place that contains a huge variety of indigenous and exotic plant species

Set up by the British in 1884 by Charles Curtis of the Gardens & Forests Departments Straits Settlements, it was used to be an old quarry site and the Garden is currently divided into 12 sections: the Formal Garden, Lily Pond, Perdana Plant House, Tropical Rainforest Jungle Track, Fern House, Fern Rockery, Aroid Walkaway, Cactus House, Orchidarium, Horticulture Centre, Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Temple, Nursery and Quarry Recreational Park

EXPERIENCE

If you're looking to spend more time in Nature then this is definitely a place for you to visit, as you'll find your inner-peace exploring Penang's finest Garden. This a free activity, everyone is welcomed to visit public attraction, it's the ideal trip for those who enjoy walking and are interested in sight seeing

Escape the stuffy Georgetown streets in the wide open spaces at the Botanical Gardens, since there are plenty of vendors at the entrance of the Garden, where they sell fresh fruits; Lycee, Mango, Dragonfruit, Pineapple, Banana, Starfruits, Watermelon & much more.
This Activity is a great way to relax & discover a more greener Penang, you'll mostly enjoy an hour long walk around that park

DON'T FORGET:
Bring your Camera because you don't want to miss out on the great scenery, which is great for taking photos. If you're interested in exploring Nature, definitely bring along a good pairs shoes so you can hike comfortably and perhaps bring a Towel along if you're interested in cooling down nearby at Water Holes at Youth Park

MY TIP

Don't walk on an empty Stomach, we definitely recommend all Travellers to try all the exotic fruits available, there are plenty of vendors to choose from and you can expect the cheapest price. Eat some fresh fruits as you explore the inner parts of Botanical Garden, to find the perfect spots to take pictures to capture the moment!

Best time to visit this Attraction is at 5pm, late evening is best time to enjoy a refreshing walk at Botanical Gardens, it's near Gurney Plaza so you can get some dinner afterwards

And Watch out for these guys! They tend to sneak up from behind you to steal Food & Drinks

Sort:

Looks like a nice place that I should visit. Penang is not too far away.
But, first I must visit my own Botanic Gardens in Singapore after recent changes.
