Stone Statues in front of The Museum in Tongdo-sa Temple.

in travel •  13 days ago

There was a Buddhist museum when we crossed the cloud like bridge over the stream.
The museum looked great, and there were so many stone relics in front of the museum.
Unlike other temples, the relics exhibited outside of the temple were the sculptures relating to time.

In oriental ancient Asia, there were 12 time lines in one day. As you know, each time line has its symbolic animal.

There were those animals relating to time line.

There were the stone Haetae on the steps to the museum. Haetae was the imaginary animal in myth of China. Originally this animal meant the law and the Justice in China, but in Korea people believed that those Haetae statue would prevent the fire accident. The meaning of Haetae had been changed in Korea like as the meaning of the dragon.

Near the Haetae stone statues, there were pieces of the stone pagodas.

It was regrettable that taking a photo in the museum was not permitted to protect the relics. There were lots of interesting relics in the museum. If you visit this temple, you need to drop by.

It is just sad that they weren't gracious enough to permit photo taking inside the museum but I bet that there are many interesting artifacts they show therein. But it is fun to see many Hetae around the museum and its surroundings is so relaxing too. @slowwalker

Beomeo-sa Temple is located on the eastern slope of Geumjeong-san, near the city of Busan. Built during the reign of King Munmu. Chrámům is one of the largest in the southeastern part of Korea, together with the Haein and Tongdo-sa temples. The main building is called Daeung-Jeon. The complex is three famous stone temples. The Beomeo-dated front door from 1614, was built in 1781.

These are mythical animals I suppose.

·

Yes, they are

The statues of animals are amazing besides it is good to know something new about these temples, the lines of the time of each animal for example is amazing that have different stories and that each of them are connected in some way

The statutes look amazing such beautiful work of art

This looks an amazing place to find inspiration. I love the the almost cartoon quality of the design, I mean that in a good way. Amazing carvings.

Interesting, how a culture changes the meaning of the symbols of other cultures when they bring it to their countries or break into the other one

mindblowing photography:)

I've also been to many museum were it was prohibited to take photos. I understand why but it makes me sad at the same moment as I wanted to capture the beauty.

Anyway, I've just found your account and I see that you have many posts from Korea. Are you Korean or are you traveling there?

Wow, these statues are looking more than interesting, thanks for sharing @slowwalker! 👏👍
