in #travel7 years ago

On friday seven Juli 2017: Me and my sisters decided to visit my mother birth town Kompong Som!

We bought the tickets about 30000 riel/ around 5 dollars each person to go with the touring bus.
We could easily hired or rented a car but we want to experience it with the bus and it's a lot cheaper then hired a chauffeur or rented a car.
It's cost for almost 100 dollar for bringing us there and i think if you want to experience the real life there just go with the bus.
The trip took longer and you will meet the people who's travelling with us too.

The bus will stop three times!
First time the bus stopped at a small shop and there you can buy some food or go to the toilet if you are needed.
Second time the bus stopped at small restaurant and if you want you can buy something to eat.
You have at least about half hour to eat. Then the bus will start driving again.
Third time's the bus stopped at small shop also for peeing or buying stuff to eat.
The way from Phnom Penh to Kompong Som took almost 7 hours.

The reason why, is because of the highway in Cambodia, it was very different than the highway in Netherlands.
Everyday we had traffic jams everywhere in Phnom Penh, the scooters drove past each other very close to the cars or tuktuk, and sometimes cars stopped in the middle of the road just because they wanted to go to work or somewhere quickly.
So the traffic there is not organise.

In the meantime, in the bus you can use wifi, watching karaoke or movie.
I've really love to sit next to the windows and looking outside and watching the beautiful nature of Cambodia.

When we arrived in Kompong Som, we walked to the tuktuk guy and ask if he can bring us around to a nice hotel for 10000 riel. Some said no and want more and one guy said yes and finally we give him more than 10000 riel because we felt pity for him and he was really a nice guy.

We finally found a nice bungalows close to the beach and for each rooms with two beds, cost twenty five dollars a night, we stayed for two nights so me and my younger sister paid fifty dollars for the whole weekend.
The bungalows name we had stayed call Makara Bungalow!

We can stayed at cheaper hotels or bungalows but it start to getting late and we don't want to driving around in the tuktuk because of the heat from the weather.
All we want is relaxing, take a nice shower to clean us up and walking at the beach.
Because it was very long journey for us. To be honest when i was in Phnom Penh there was in some places a lot of junk or waste. I've felt kinda sad to see Phnom Penh like that. What can you do about it? Learning the kids at school how to clean up the trashes? And most of them are also very stubborn...
I've tried to ask them many times and the answer was more about the laziness and many don't know how to get rid of them.
Of course i want to said there was some places that's beautiful but in my eyes i need to tell you guys what i saw.
In Kompong Som you don't see much trash or junk. I think because of the places full of tourist and also i saw many students are cleaning up the beach to.

After we all freshening up, my brother in law who's also was with us asking the reception for the information about Koh Rong...
Because we really like to visits the islands. We heard from many people or tourist that the islands are very beautiful.
I will tell the story information next time about Koh Rong and how to get there!
Finally after so many hours traveling, we walking along the beach and finding a nice place to eat at the beach.

When we walking alongside the beach I saw many things around me!
I saw women are making seafood or some making pancake from durian fruit.

And most of the times, I've felt kinda pity for the women's who's asking us to buy shrimps or need a massage from them, all the time i must refuse them.
And some children asking us to buy fireworks and wishing balloon or wanted some money to have some food, me or my sisters /brother in law always give them from 100 riel to 500 riel depends on the situation what we saw or give them even more riel.
My younger sister want to buy one wishing balloon for our parents and the boy said to us around 10 o'clock pm he will come to us and will stick the balloon for us.
We then order cooked crabs, shrimps, vegetable nasi with Koh Kong sauce for dipping the crabs and shrimps, 3 mango's shake and one cocos shake.

After we finish our delicious seafoods we had order at the beach.
The boy kept his promise and sticking the wishing balloon for us! We give him some money and watching the balloon flew off direction to the moon, it was really unforgettable day and night. I also felt the warm, sadness and lucky that i was in my mother birth town. Wishing that everything gonna be alright and telling my parents that, your daughter is back home!!!
