My journey to Cambodia part4: The ancient temple of Wat Banan in Cambodia.
After four days of being in Cambodia, it felt great to smell the air, to feel the sun and to see my family members around us.
That feeling is difficult to explain but it felt like coming home, after a long journey.
Cambodia is the country where i was born, and will always be my home.
So today we took the moment to visit the ancient temple of Wat Banan in Battambang.
It's 20 miles of Thmor Koul, this temple comes from the Ang Kor wat temple era, and was first built by Ut Tak Yea Tit Tya Varman II (1050-1066), and then was finally finished by the king, Jarvarman VII (1181-1219).
I when there with my brother-in-law, and my two sisters, one some family members.
Here we stand in of the stairs of the temple.
The stairs got precisely 358 steps, and you need to hold tight when going up or down.
The handrail of the stairs is part of an ancient figure, what is called the Naga.
They are supernatural beings from Hinduism and Buddhism, who are the guardians of holy places. Here below is the head on top of the temple.
And when you stand on top, you could look at nearby Thailand.
The view from that point is a amazing site.
Lol you can't see it very good on this picture, but imagine seeing a beautiful horizon! :)
So if you like ancient temples, then this should be one on your whishlist, next to Ang kor Wat.
What i will visit further more in the vacation. Here are some more pictures of the surroundings in the temple.
The temple had an ancient environment, and i felt like being in an old movie.
You can latterly see and smell history around you, it's an amazing site.
And near the temple is a river, with little houses were you can chill and eat.
Yes this place is breathtaking and is perfect to relax your mind.
What makes this place one of the richest places in Cambodia, not rich because of money.
But more in history, the beauty of the temple, nature and of course the people who live here and take care of everything.
And now I'm preparing myself for the next family trip, i don't know to where exactly, but you will all find that out soon enough. I thank you all for reading and i hope you enjoy my trip to Cambodia.
Chum reap Leah--> good bye!

This is exactly what I'm seeking out on Steemit! Nice post! I came to Siem Reap six years ago and the temples were wonderful! I can't wait to go back, but I'll have to schedule around the big tourist groups somehow....
