Vienna has something that hooks, it is one of the most beautiful and perfect European capitals to enjoy a getaway for a few days. The so-called ”city of music” is full of great buildings, palaces, museums, cafeterias and libraries, which will leave you breathless as soon as you see them. Vienna is music, cradle of great composers like Strauss, Beethoven or Mozart and abodes of the famous opera. The city has a lot of culture, with more than 100 museums to choose from.

Viena tiene algo que engancha, es una de las capitales europeas más bonitas y perfectas para disfrutar de una escapada de unos días. La llamada “ciudad de la música” está llena de grandes edificios, palacios, museos, cafeterías y bibliotecas, que te dejarán sin aliento nada más verlos. Viena es música, cuna de grandes compositores como Strauss, Beethoven o Mozart y morada de la afamada opera. Esta ciudad es cultura, tiene más de 100 museos en los que elegir.

Although for tourists it is a bit expensive, it is considered as a clean, safe and well-serviced city, Vienna tops the list of cities with the best quality of life almost every year.

Aunque para los turistas sea algo cara, considerada como una ciudad limpia, segura y con buenos servicios, Viena encabeza la lista de las ciudades con mejor calidad de vida casi cada año.

To save some money on the way from the airport to the city, we took a train called CAT ("City Airport Train"). It was very fast (about 15 or 20 minutes to get to the city) and comfortable, and we saved a lot since the taxis are so expensive.

Para ahorrar algo de dinero en el trayecto del aeropuerto a la ciudad, cogimos un tren llamado CAT (“City Airport Train”). Fue muy rápido (unos 15 o 20 minutos en llegar a la ciudad) y cómodo, y nos ahorramos bastante ya que los taxis son carísimos.

Inside the Hofburg Palace you can admire the apartments that served as residence for Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife Elisabeth (the well-known Sisi or Sisi empress), as well as the new Sisi Museum.

En el palacio de Hofburg se pueden admirar los apartamentos que servían de residencia al emperador Francisco José y a su mujer Elisabeth (la tan conocida Sisi o Sisi emperatriz), así como el nuevo Museo Sisí.

This was one of the museums that we liked the most, in which you can hear stories about the rebellion against life in the court of Sisi the empress, her obsession with beauty, her extreme thinness and the state of deep melancholy in which she found herself sunk habitually. Actually, you will learn many unknown stories about the Bavarian princess, at least for me, such as the following:

She was obsessed with her hair, which she dedicated more than 3 hours a day brushing it and it weighed more than two and a half kilos.
She suffered from bulimia and anorexia.
She Injected cocaine to withstand menstrual pain and also to control her mood.
She built a gym in her palace to be fit, she took great care of her shape.

Este fue uno de los museos que más nos gustó, en él podréis escuchar relatos sobre la rebeldía ante la vida en la corte de Sisi la emperatriz, su obsesión por la belleza, su extrema delgadez y el estado de profunda melancolía en el que se encontraba sumida habitualmente. De hecho, aprenderéis muchas historias no conocidas sobre princesa bávara, al menos por mí, como las siguientes:

Estaba obsesionada con su melena, a la que dedicaba en peinar más de 3horas al día y pesaba más de dos kilos y medio.

Padecía bulimia y anorexia.

Se inyectaba cocaína para soportar los dolores menstruales y también para controlar su ánimo.

Hizo construir un gimnasio en su palacio para poder estar en forma, se cuidaba mucho físicamente

So I totally recommend Sisi’s museum.

Así que recomiendo totalmente el museo de Sisi.

Vienna’s Opera / La Ópera de Viena

Vienna’s Opera

The State Opera of Vienna is the most important opera company known worldwide.

La Ópera Estatal de Viena es la compañía de ópera más importante y conocida a nivel mundial.

The chandelier of the opera has 1100 light bulbs and about 4 tons of weight, it’s spectacular.

La araña de la opera tiene 1100 bombillas y unas 4 toneladas de peso, espectacular.

Great artists like Mozart or Beethoven played in this impressive emblematic building.

Grandes artistas como Mozart o Beethoven tocaron en este impresionante edificio emblemático.

Café Central

To finish the day, the sweetest people can take the famous Sacher cake in the Café Central pastry shop, the most known in all of Vienna and in which they serve delicious desserts and cakes.

Para finalizar el día, los más dulces podéis tomar la famosa tarta Sacher en la pastelería Café Central, la más conocida de todo Viena y en la que ponen postres y tartas deliciosos.
