The Master's wisdom # 11 – Want to really get to know someone? Road trip !
Traveling with someone is the best date ever !

If you two manage to enjoy each other's company for a significant time (say, more than six weeks on the road), then this person is to keep. When traveling you get to know the person's ups and downs, pluses, and minuses; you get to see them in their glory (dressing fancy to a party) and fully exposed (skinny dipping); they get to feel you with and w/out words while driving and singing out loud.
Traveling reveals to you their values, how they treat - under pressure and without preparation - foreigners, friends and mostly you. How they behave as partners, do they leave the chores to you or take the burden, do they complain or take responsibility.
And if after all that exposure you two still wake up with a smile, next to each other, next to these mates of yours, then know that you have found your private star traveler, the one who has descended to earth with you from your home nebula; know that this starman/woman is now your life partner on the journey called "life on earth"; and beyond.

And this trip of yours is the first chapter in the book you are writing. Together.
And this, friends, is how love looks like, if you ask me.
So, if you really want to get to know someone, invite them to travel with you. This perhaps would be the best marriage counseling you could get.

That’s kind of really interesting point. When I met my wife, we traveled much more than now. If we traveled, it was for at least 10 days. I called it a vacation. I remember having a blast. We enjoyed each other company, had fun...Now we don’t travel like that anymore. If we do, we take a one or mostly two day trip, but much more often. We have blast as well without missing these 10 days or longer vacations. One of the main reasons we don’t take longer trips is plane. My wife is terrified flying, I don’t want to push her, it’s just not that important to me anymore. I enjoy these short trips as well a lot. At least we have it much more often at least once a month.
Sounds like you used those long vacations, in the beginning, to match your energies. Lovely 👍
Traveling with person for days gave you complete idea of him/her that what type of person he is and is he/she suitable for you to keep or not.
That's true, means our life is like an journey and to know someone there is no better choice than a travel because travelling is great journey itself and in my opinion also travelling can reflect the people's behaviour because travelling consists many aspects of life means while travelling we face both bitter and happy phases and in these phases we can read once real self. This is excellent I think the same, I think traveling is the best thing if you do it with someone is good, it's like living with that person, they share all that time, they live in the same room, traveling is the best
