Walking in Yaroslavl

Continuation, beginning here ...

Honestly, walking around museums is tiring. After all, we wanted to walk around the city, look at beautiful buildings and sights. Therefore, we did not stay long in museums, but went on walk.

In Yaroslavl, there are many ancient churches and temples. You can endlessly admire their ancient architecture.

In the photo below - the Temple of the Epiphany, built in the late 17th century. It is located on the Epiphany Square, near the Yaroslavl Kremlin.

This bell tower is located on the territory of the Kremlin.

One of the most ancient churches of Yaroslavl is the church of Michael the Archangel. In ancient manuscripts it is said that the first church in this place was built in the 13th century.

But, perhaps, the largest and most beautiful temple of Yaroslavl is the Assumption Cathedral. The building is modern - it was built in 2010, but the project is based on the project of the cathedral, which stood in Yaroslavl from 1215 and was destroyed in 1937.

The Ilinsko-Tikhonovskaya church is considered the oldest church in Yaroslavl. According to legend, Yaroslav the Wise after the victory over the cruel beast ordered to build in this place the church of the prophet Elijah and the "castle of creation". It happened on August 2 - the day of St. Elijah the Prophet, hence the name of the church.

All this time we walked along the Volga River. More precisely, we were on the dais, and the valley of the river was stretched below. Here is such a road and a specific platform:

From where you can see a magnificent view for many kilometers ahead.

And the people of Yaroslavl, it turns out, are sports people! On skis along the river - it's cool!
