Berlin VS Rest of Germany Part 1 - Hop on Hop off Bus Berlin

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

I think in every country it´s the same game. People from the capital think they live in the best part of the nation and people from other parts think that they are not. The mentality of capital citizens and the rest seems to be totally different :D - It is a hate - love.

It doesn´t matter if you are in Madrid -Spain , London - England, Paris - France, Mexico City - Mexico etc. or here in Germany with Berlin ;) - I think we all know what I mean ;)

I am from Munich and lived the last 3 years at the Riviera in Mexico. I have to admit that when I grew up I thought the same about Berlin and it´s people... "they are just so different from Munich", we have nothing to do with the north etc... but as I moved to a city like Playa del Carmen in Mexico these thoughts change.

You know, over there nobody is from Playa del Carmen really... it is a big intercultural mix of people from all over the world and you get to know so many opinions and mentalities that you start to think different and let go all this prejudices.

Now I am at my country for 2 month until I start a new world travel. Some friends of mine from Spain are escaping from the heat there (48 degrees) and asked me to visit me here. They also wanted to see Berlin so we met there, stayed for a few days and went to Munich afterwards. - My chance to change my mind about our capital. I have been there a few years before and hated it :D

Well, the first impression was great. I just mentioned on Facebook that I will be there for a few days and friends living there already offered me a place to stay!! - Really nice and open... maybe in Munich it wouldn´t go that easy... at least not with everyone.

So I went there, left my things at my friends apartment and met my friends from Spain in the city center. We weren´t really prepared for sightseeing haha (we where roomies in Mexico for a while, guess that Caribbean thinking got stuck a bit).

So at first we just walked around get an impression of the city image. The next 2 days we went around with the hop on hop off bus as a Mexican girl offered us a good price 30EUR for 2 days, all 3 tours. If it is a mexican girl selling it it has to be a sign right? She just lived next to where we lived... again you can see how small the world is :D

I think every one of you knows the way to go around with theses buses already: You buy for one, two or like we did-all 3 lines and can use the bus that is driving this circle. At every stop you have the possibility to get off the bus, walk around and take the next one to go on with the tour. While you are on the bus you can sit on the roof top and get explanations about the different sights from an audio guide. There where 8 different languages available.

So here a few pictures of the things we in this 2 days using all 3 bus lines:

Right next to the zoo you can drink a cocktail at the Monkey bar with a view towards the monkey cages :) - Really nice fancy place to finish the day.

We had great weather and a really great first impression of the city. It is really multicultural and open. It offers a lot of things and gives people a lot of freedom. Nobody cares how you are dressed or where you are from. I still missed a bit of a soul of the city though... for me there are a lot of grey parts instead of parks etc... I am not a big fan of log construction. But I had a great time and learned a lot about the city. Soon I am gonna tell you more about the trip ;)

Thanks for every Upvote, Resteem and Follow!! You are supporting my world trip with it ;)

Отличные фото города где никогда не бывал , мне интересно ! спасибо !

Great overview and pictures!
For myself, I have to admit, that I never liked Berlin as much as Paris. I think it is the architecture that is mixed too much from different styles. But on the other hand, that is part of the Berlin atmosphere. It got a little bit better the last time I was there to visit friends who showed me some new edges of the city.

Do you have been at the Frankfurter Allee, Frankfurter Tor and Karl-Marx-Allee? It is again a different atmosphere there as it was part of the soviet representative boulevard in East Berlin.
Or maybe you visited the Berlin underground (Unterwelten)? It's quite interesting, too. Well, like in every city of this size, you can discover new places over months and years...

hey there. Thanks for stopping by! I am still not a big fan of Berlin.. but this time was better because I saw friends and they showed me a few "not touristic" sights too ;) I have been there too yes... didnt like it :D ... the pictures are not beautiful from that part to be honest.. that´s why I didnt really mentioned it. I have been to the bunker tour though.. will probably make a post about it too... It was really interesting!! I loved it. Couldnt take pictures though so I have to search some at their website... I have to say that this time was better in Berlin but still... I like Munich more ;)

Thanks my friend :) Nice to see you around.
