Sultanahmet or Blue mosque in Istanbul

in #travel6 years ago

The blue mosque of Istanbul is a beautiful architectural structure with six minarets. This place is a must-visit. The mosque is a historical value of Turkey.

The exemplary architecture of the world and Islamic architecture attracts the attention of all tourists and visitors of the city with its beauty. Sultan Ahmet I wanted mercy from Allah and expressed the power of this desire in the form of the biggest mosque. Construction began in 1609 and lasted for 7 years.

The mosque is very large, but it looks quite airy. Take a stroll in the garden or sit in the pretty courtyard. There are always a lot of people, and the territory itself can take up to 10 thousand people. When there are no special holidays, you can easily see everything.

The architect Sedefkar Mehmed ağa embodied many ideas in this building. This is a disciple of the great architect Sinan. Sedefkar Mehmed ağa has always sought to surpass his teacher. Styles of Ottoman and Islamic architecture are the symbol of ancient Constantinople. Marble red, black, green was taken from different countries. Money from the Treasury were allocated in large numbers.

The Sultanahmet mosque is open from 9: 00 am. There is always a large number of visitors. The mosque is functioning. We are trapped the last time before namaz (prayer) and me, with my Russian the face of, not wanted leak protection. But there are several entrances, I went from the side, where once could enter only the Sultan (in the Western part of the building).

At the entrance there are packages in which you put your shoes. During the prayer inside the mosque guard sends all the women in the corner, which is intended for them in the fence. In this fence, all sitting with the kids and the place is practically free there. Men can freely move around the mosque at this time.

I didn't go to this corner, I just sat down on the carpet and watched a little. The guard better not show what you're taking pictures of. To enter, women need to cover knees and headdress. At the entrance there are clothes that you can take to visit.

The architecture of Istanbul widely used Iznik tiles for decoration. Handmade ceramics shines with its beauty and elegance. In the mosque Sultanahmet used a large number of blue and white Iznik tiles (more than 20 thousand pieces of tiles), for which it is called The blue mosque. The interior of Sultanahmet mosque is very beautiful, many paintings in Turkish style and ornaments.

Only ornaments from different sketches of tulips more than 50! The prayer niche is carved from a solid monolith of marble. 260 Windows make the mosque light and cozy. From Mecca was specially brought "black stone", which is located in the prayer niche.
