I knew about Provence province from a book, which called < A year in Provence>, it was very popular book in many years ago, many people took it as their bedside book, it influenced many generations. I read this book when I was in Middle school, then Provence is on my budget list. The author Peter Mayle wrote the book by his delicate and penetrating writing style, make the whole book like a poem. The book was divided into 12 parts: from January to December, wrote down the details of changing seasons.
"It had been a still, oppressively hot day, and the villlage smelled of heat, of baked tamac and dried-out rosemary and warm gravel. And people. We had chosen the night of the annual. We should have known, because every village celebrated August in one way or another—with a tournament or a donkey race or a barbecue or a fair, with colored lights strung in the plane trees and dance floors made from wooden planks laid across scaffolding, with gypsies and accordion

对于南法的最早认知好像都是从文学作品里读来的，最早是读《山居岁月》，这本书曾是几代人的枕边书，彼得梅尔用诗一样的细腻笔触讲普罗旺斯的乡间田园生活一一讲尽，一年四季风景之变化，从自然中撷取季节性饮食，偶尔有短途畅游，生活里没有冲突，没有波折，可以活得入世，也可以很超然。
喜欢他关于八月普罗旺斯地区的描写：“热、酷热。无法忍受的酷热。数周高温，滴雨不下，普罗旺斯变成了一座巨大的电暖炉。骄阳灼烤着山冈和村庄，晒焦了草地，熔化了柏油碎石路，烤得土地龟裂开来，晒得这些皮肤白皙的北方来客红得像大虾，脸上身上火辣辣的疼。日落之后很久，余热依旧蒸腾。石头摸上去还发烫，空气如同凝固一般，不见流动。
生活的节奏变得异常迟缓，漫长炎热的日子，一天接着一天。
八月中旬，暑热似乎有了些微退却的迹象。气压变得很低，几乎令人窒息，突如其来的寂静笼罩了乡村：刺耳的蝉鸣戛然而止，像被谁切断了电源。这是暴风雨随时来袭的征兆。”

The heart of whole Provence area is Avignon, a historic and cultural city, it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. It also known as the "city of the Pope." The old city of avignon is also surrounded by the well-preserved ancient city walls. There are many historic buildings, the Palais des Papes is the most famous one.

普罗旺斯的心脏就是阿维尼翁，是世界历史文化名城，还被称为“教皇之城”。阿维尼翁老城也是中心区被保存完好的古城墙所包围，有多座历史建筑，其中一辉煌的教皇宫最为著名。

The temperature is so difference between day and night in Avignon, the early morning was felt like late autumn, sunlight thin, the sky is clear and cloudless, with a chill. When I got up in the early morning, I could see the flecks of sunlight between the tree leaves was shinning. and the leaves rustled in the wind.
阿维尼翁的昼夜温差很大，早晚如深秋，日光稀薄，天空清朗，干燥的万里无云，带着一丝寒意，早起就看到细碎的晨光透过窗外高大的梧桐树照进房间，树叶在风中瑟瑟的抖动着，发出沙沙的声响。
八月是法国的假期，八点钟小城还没有苏醒，街上行人很少，很安静。

Our homeowners recommended us going to a local market, there is full with fresh fruits and vegetables, and variety food from many different countries. Of course, the best part is fresh seafood. We are both oyster lovers, we have ate in a small seafood restaurant, and tried to be like the local french people, eating oysters and drink the brandy in the morning, enjoying the leisurely lazy pace of life.

我们听了我们住的Airbnb房主的建议，去了当地的一个室内市场，有新鲜蔬果鱼肉，也有做好的各地美食。因为我们都是生蚝的爱好者，就在一家海鲜小店坐下，大清早就吃生蚝喝白兰地，享受法式的慵懒生活。当然八月的生蚝都是养殖的，当下正是吃海虹的最好季节，法国各地街头都是吃着海虹喝着冰啤酒的当地人。

The famous theatre festival is held every year in July in Avignon. There are more than thousand different events are held everyday, art forms such as dance, music, and cinema. Approximately 100,000 people attend the festival. But regularly, there are still many street performances happened every day in Provence. It's a small city with artistic atmosphere.

阿维尼翁每年7月有戏剧艺术节，来自全世界的艺术家齐聚于此，但大多随性表演，散落在古城的各个角落，每天有几千个戏剧上演，但很可惜我们并没有赶上艺术节。不过阿维尼翁有其独特的艺术氛围，不论是白天夜晚，总有艺术家在街头表演，每个表演者都异常投入，也总有许多观众安静的听着，等待着一曲唱罢给其掌声。

At noon, the sun was blazing, the whole city is steaming, the sun was shining on every lane in the city, there was no way to avoid it, many people were hiding under umbrellas and drinking coffee.
一到中午，骄阳似火，热气蒸腾，日光灼灼的照在城市的每条小巷，让人无从回避，街上行人也减少，许多人都躲在遮阳伞下喝着咖啡。
Old city of Avignon is pretty small, tourists could easily walk around in everywhere.
阿维尼翁老城很小，很适合步行游荡，建议大家多去小巷走走，很多小巷都没有游客涉足。
