The Old Dog Says: I Could no Longer Suspend my Visit to This Bridge!
I had passed by it several times on my way to and from Geneva but now it was time to stop, visit and enjoy!
The walk across was spectacular and offered tremendous views of the landscape!
Here you can see the full length of this engineering beauty.
The "Goms Bridge" can be found in the gorgeous countryside in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It crosses the Rhone river not too far from its source and offers breath taking views of the historical villages that are nestled within the forested hills.
I had previously chronicled my visit to the Carasc Tibetan style bridge but this one was equally exciting and flavorful!
Here you can see the pristine waters of the Rhone river as it winds its way down the valley.
These quaint wooden homes greeted us on the other side of the bridge.

This is the view from a cozy little cafe where we stopped to "whet our whistles".

It was time to head back across the bridge and continue on to our next destination!

I never had the opportunity to cross a suspension bridge, now as an old man I have a bit of vertigo, as a young man, towards any crossing without being afraid of anything, however I would like to know this place.

One day my niece and I decided to be brave and walk the length of the bridge. Thankfully, cedar planks offer secure footing. Additionally, there are railings to hang onto and a steel mesh screening that is about 3 to 4 feet in height to make sure that people do not step off the bridge by accident.

Capilano Suspension Bridge is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Vancouver. Definitely on the list of the top things to do in Vancouver. And after 32.5 years of being from this part of the world, I finally made a visit to Capilano Suspension Bridge. And colour me impressed!
