My Stopover Trip in Paris

in #travel5 years ago

I arrived in Paris from the United States at 6:55 am Paris time. My hotel was not ready for occupancy so my friend and I dropped off our luggage and started exploring the city. We started off by stopping at a local brassiere for some coffee. We were not hungry because we were fed very well on the airplane. We had dinner because it was a night flight and breakfast right before we landed. The coffee in Paris was served as espresso in a very small cup. It is very strong compared to American coffee. I could have gotten a cup of American coffee, but when in Rome . . .

Our hotel was only (.6 miles) 1 km from the Eiffel Tower, so we started walking in that direction. We stopped by several local shops along the way to browse. We didn't buy anything though because we did not want to add weight to our luggage.

We stopped to grab a bite to eat right before we got to the Eiffel tower and that's where I ordered some chicken wings. We proceeded to the Eiffel Tower, took a few pictures and then started back to our hotel which would be able to accommodate us because it was check in time.

I tried to capture the everyday life of Parisians on the street. It was very cold with a blustery wind, but we were dressed warmly.

We were only going to be in Paris for a day and a half so we wanted to do several things. I did not attempt to go up in the tower because you have to buy tickets way in advance.

I also took pictures around the Eiffel tower on the street level.

Paris is a very large city with a lot of things going on all of the time.

There are a lot of shops where you can purchase food and libations.

The architecture and apartment buildings are beautiful everywhere you look.

We walked along the Seine River and I took a couple of pictures from across the street.

That night, I had dinner at a restaurant named Leon's that specialized in mussels.

My entree was a pasta dish with so many mussels that I could not finish all of it. It was absolutely delicious.

When we left Paris yesterday, we experienced a little of the Manifestation protests. There was an attempted blockade on the freeway that our taxi driver had to travel to get us to the airport. There were police present though that made the protesters move out of the way.

I have to get ready to tour Spain right now so I will let you know what I experience a little later.

Have a great day or evening depending on where you are.
