🐘 Trip to “Lakawon Island” Cadiz City Negros Occidental

This trip was happened last 2015 together with my friends.
The plan was set 2 months before we decided to visit the said Island.
Actually it’s not my first to go there and my first visit was 2008 but the island is just an ordinary place compare now that it is innovated to attract visitors and foreigners.
The lakawon Island is located in Cadiz city and you have to ride a boat before you can experience the hidden beauty of lakawon.

Last 2009 the island was totally destroyed by typhoon that turns Lakawon into different image “Catastrophic” not only that lakawon also suffer from oil spill because one of the shipping vessel was accidentally crashed along the sea shore and the spilled oil almost destroyed the ¾ portion of the Island.

Now Lakawon is back and totally renewed and looks differently since 2008 the last time I visited the place.
I will show to you guys our first trip to lakawon as local government of Cadiz spent their allocated budget to renovate the Island.

Let’s start from Bacolod North Terminal going to Martesan Terminal in Cadiz City.
From Bacolod North Terminal you have to take a bus whether the destination of route is Cadiz, Victorias, Sagay, Escalante or San Carlos you can ride on the given option. The transportation fee cost 45 pesos “its not expensive at all. The traveling time will take 1 and a half hour before you reach martesan terminal.

Take note: You have to inform the “conductor” that your destination is going martesan terminal because not all bus stops on that terminal.

If you are already their in Martesan you have to occupy a motorcycle costs 150 pesos
By the way each motorcycle requires atleast 5 passengers so if you are six or seven in a group better divide yourselves into two groups. Because the local community administrator is very strict in terms of loading capacity.

The traveling time will take 10-15 minutes from main road going to lakawon port.
Upon reaching the port you have to book a ticket for boat transportation and get stamped.

Additional reminder: The boat capacity is maximum of 10 passengers like what happened to us because we came early and the first trip starts at 7:30am we need to wait other passenger because its so expensive to occupy the whole boat transportation fee. Until 4 people just came so we decided to divide the transport fee and it cost 287 each person.

The Embarking time will take 10-15 mins “ not bad at all “
Reminder: The Wave experience is different because it is an open sea so better expect wavy trip!! Better relax and enjoy.

As we landed on Lakawon all passengers is required to register your name for insurance and security purposes.

Where you can also book your cottage or umbrella hut and we chose umbrella hut because it seem so cool and at the same time it is near at the beach side. The umbrella hut costs 600 pesos and any additional 100 pesos for every person.

Take note: transportation going to floating restaurant is not free and it costs 200 pesos.

Available activities:
Scuba diving, snorkelling, jet ski, banana boat riding and still upgrading.

The funny thing that was happened!! because of too much excitement I forgot to add salt to my “Adobo” Very funny.
After we took our lunch we buy some shakes because it’s so hot that time.
The shocking one “8 oz softdrinks cost 38 pesos” very expensive. So better bring you food nothing to worry about corkage because it’s for free of charge.

We swim, walk around in the island and explore the whole place together with my friends.

This wonderful trip experienced together with my friends at lakawon is one of my memorable moments.
