What's up Steemit friends! Today I’m sharing with you 4 monochrome photos shot in Europe and South America, and the stories behind them. I'm inspired by the B&W Photo Contest hosted by @daveks, and the Animal Shadow contest by @melinda010100. I appreciate their efforts in building an active photography community on #Steemit. 👍

Eduardo Avaroa, Bolivia

This picture was taken at sunrise at a hot spring in Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve of Andean Fauna, near Laguna Colorada in Bolivia, not far from the borders of Chile and Argentina.

It's heart (and body of course :D) warming to soak in a hot thermal bath in the freezing morning. And I was mesmerized by the shadows and the steam that were dancing in the first glow in the tranquil wildness:

这张照片是在玻利维亚和智利、阿根廷边界不远处的一个地热温泉池边用手机拍的。日出，几乎零下的气温中，泡个温泉♨️是有多暖心，你懂的。

清晨的第一缕微光随着升腾起的氤氲水汽跃动起舞，泡汤人的身影在这静谧的荒野中缓缓流转，被高原紫外线晒得黝黑的当地姑娘，戴着圆礼帽，身穿厚厚的蓬蓬裙坐在一边，远处起伏的山峦若隐若现。眼前的一切仿如幻境。

Pula Arena, Croatia

The amphitheater below is not the Colosseum in Rome, but the Pula Arena of Croatia. This arena is one of the six largest surviving Roman amphitheaters in the world, and is among the best preserved few. Pula is a pretty port city known for its multitude of ancient Roman buildings.

I visited the inside in the late afternoon and waited till at night when the amphitheater was closed, so there was only me there by the fence. Beautiful serenity. The Arena was lit then by warm yellow lights in peace and quiet. You can see my lonely shadow as well as the shadows of the fence and the stone structures:

上面这建筑可不是意大利罗马的斗兽场哦，而是克罗地亚普拉市的竞技场。这是全球现存的六大古罗马竞技场之一，也是保存最完好的位于海边的一座。

我下午进去参观了一下，出来后在附近逛了一会儿，等它关门后又去隔着栏杆拍了几张照片，因为只有这种时候才能拍到空寂的竞技场。于是便有了我和栏杆，还有石墙投在地面的影子。美妙的清静。

Museum Honestino Guimarães, Brazil

This retrofuturistic building below is the National Museum of the Republic in Brasília, also known as Museum Honestino Guimarães. It is designed by the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer, who is the chief designer of the city’s modern architectures. Both the building and the skateboarder cast shadows which form an interesting contrast between the different shapes and shades.

这座独特的白色建筑是巴西的共和国博物馆，为共和国文化建筑群的一部分，由世界闻名的巴西国父级建筑师奥斯卡·内梅耶设计，巴西利亚的主要现代建筑物都是由他一手设计建造的。照片里的博物馆和滑板男孩都投下了阴影，在各异的形体和明暗间形成了有趣的对比。

Kotor, Montenegro

This last photo of a cute kitten is my entry for the contest hosted by @melinda010100 themed Animal Shadow.

I captured this one afternoon when I was strolling a street in Kotor of Montenegro. Kotor is a beautiful coastal town surrounded by fortifications built during the Venetian period.

Used to be a Mediterranean port, Kotor is also known for its large amount of cats all over the streets. There's even a Cats Museum dedicated for these little creatures. If you love cats, don't miss the chance to check out this museum when you visit Kotor!

这只小黑猫是不是挺可爱？那天下午，我在黑山共和国的猫城科托尔街上闲逛，满大街到处都是喵星人，似乎比地球人都多。

黑山共和国的风景美得让人流连忘返，其中科托尔又是地中海边一颗闪耀的明珠。这座精致的古城随处都是威尼斯时代留下的建筑痕迹，还有个专门的猫咪博物馆。如果你是位爱猫人士，去到黑山时可别忘了去这里看看哦！
