Fjallsarlon Glacier Beach - Iceland
Have you ever been to an arctic and icy beach? Doesn't matter, in this post I'm going to take you to Fjallsarlon. This place is located at eastern Iceland, not far from the town Hof. Its a part of the Vatnajökull national park. There are many huge glaciers nearby which produce melting water and this melting process creates lakes to the bottom part of the glaciers.
Fjallsarlon is also called a lagoon. In that lagoon, you can see bigger and smaller icebergs that calve from the edge of the glacier and float around in the lake. If you have extra money to spend there then you can take a short boat tour around the lake. We didn't do it due to lack of time but I can imagine that this would be pretty cool. you can also find a restaurant Frost there, where you can buy refreshing drinks and foods.
Weather on that day was very warm when considered the Icelandic climate. It was 19C outside and that was the warmest day we get to experience during the whole trip.
Tell me you don't want to chillax at that icy arctic wonder beach. That would probably be a lie.

Even though we wanted to stay there longer to let the beauty sink into us, we had to move along. A little bit further there was another glacier lake named jökulsarlon. This is also glacier melting water lake but its much bigger. The glacier that feeds the lake is also super massive in dimensions. Glacier width you can see in the photo below is about 10kilometers.
and length over 15 kilometers, that's crazy, right?
You would never guess that is that big from the photo.
Desert with icebergs
If you ever visit Iceland, I strongly advise you to visit these places. You can see Icelandic nature forces with your own eye, thats truly spectacular.
Oh wow, that third picture is incredible! I love how it kind of looks like the snow is flowing down the mountain side in a repetitive pattern. Would look really nice as a print on the wall!
Heh, yes I like this as well! Do you know why it looks like its flowing down the side? Because it is :D Its a glacier, moving ice. Shortest explanation ever lol.
Well yeah DOH but it looks like it could be moving super fast, almost like water!
If you put it that way then kinda yea!
What an amazing landscape. I'm planning to go for Iceland for such a long time already but can't decide on the time of the year. But from the weather perspective I think that summer is the best so maybe next year :)
Thank you for sharing!
Well yeah, summer offers many many bright hours, therefore you have much time to explore and the weather is not so harsh. It still rains A LOT on Iceland so there aren't many full sunny days. Winter has its own perks, like northern lights etc.
Avoid winters... you will only see whiteness and dark. :) Cheers :D

beautiful photos, so clean and fresh! That glacier is amazing. I've been to one short trip to Iceland, but saw only a glimpse of what it has to offer, so really want to go back one day!
You really should go on a longer trip to Iceland, its worth it!
Stunning. Just absolutely stunning! Nature in its vast and awesome glory, I reckon.
