Pyanitsky Pogost. Three wishes

in #travel6 years ago

After a short rest we go down the field. Along the trail are all the same beautiful birch trees with straight snow-white trunks. The views from the hill are simply amazing, even though the leaves from the trees are almost all fallen.

Once there was a village Pogorelovo. But the villages to which difficult access, very quickly disappear from the face of the earth. There are only capital buildings that can remind us that people used to live here. In this case, it is the stone church of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa.

In the meantime, the birches do not let up, just like at a fashion show - its stand along the path one more beautiful than the other!

On the approach to the holy spring, the footbridges from wet and old boards begin, on which it is very dangerous to walk.

A spring makes its way from the bowels of the earth, then flows through hand-made grooves of a log, and at the end fills the font, which is located in a wooden structure under the roof.

Gutters are hewn out of half a log.

The water here is really holy! At the very beginning of the spring there is a stone bowl, where I threw three coins and made three wishes. Less than a minute, I slipped and fell right into the stream! What was it?? Pay for wishes? Or I needed to touch the water so that the wishes would come true, but I did not do that, and then some forces forced me to dip into the holy spring. In general, the mood in my second half of the trip radically changed. Not from good to bad, but from easy to loaded. The rest of the time, being in this place, I tried to comprehend this case.

But the journey was not over yet and then we entered the chapel, which was built over the grave of the elder Maxim Yugov. The door was open.

The place seems to have some power, since people leave notes with wishes in the chapel.

Church Paraskeva Pyatnitsa was built in 1806. Its architectural appearance is dominated by baroque elements.

Inside there is a frame from a large iconostasis.

Nearby are icons. The church is visited by parishioners from local villages, as well as by pilgrims.

There is access to the bell tower, but it will not be possible to climb to the very top and see the beauty - the wooden staircase has long ago rotted and collapsed.

There are many old birch trees around the church. Some of them have already fallen from time to time. Nothing wrong! Its are being replaced by an entire generation.

Every year, the Pyatnitskaya Church is becoming increasingly difficult to photograph.

Very soon, even going to her will be problematic.

And all the birches are not appeased! You walk next to them, and they still strive to block your path, with the words "look at me, how beautiful I am!", Jump out before your feet, one after another. They are stuck on all sides, they do not want to let out, you have to bypass them or try to slip through their spreading arms-branches.

Only after going out on the trail, they retreat - they are afraid to run far from their homeland. Let the temple protect better!
An older birch bows finally, thanks for the visit.

And again a dark, silent forest on the way...

And the low forest again...

And behind it is a field road...

And now the village Koshovo is visible, which means the journey is over.

The return path is always easier physically. But this time the thought of the incident that happened to me at the holy source was the hardest and did not let go even a few days after the trip.

Be careful with wishes and make them right!

I love the little wooden hut and it's log gutters. Do you know if it's a newer building or as old as the church?

nature lover Awesome

The inside of the church is amazing. So classic and beautiful. I'm sure it was absolutely stunning in it's prime.

Those tall slender trees, they are very beautiful. There's something about them that make me feel as if this place is magical. Very lovely photos, I enjoyed looking at them.

I have generally mixed feelings about such abandoned places. On one side I love them, because they are so great for photography. On the other side I feel sad, because part of the history is gone and it is just thanks to us, people. I love this church and I like that there are still some holy images around there. It's a pity that iconostasis is not there anymore.

Those birches are like soldiers. They stand perfectly next to each other. I love how organized they are! Your photos are very nice. I like the way you capture some details.

I am sorry to hear about your accident with water, lol. These things happen :) This kind of things happen to me regularly, so you're not alone :)

Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed both your photos and your story!

Thank you for sharing you story about this beautiful natural beauty. The place is really full of young trees, and they are already taking over the place. I can understand that people leave the area if there no jobs, no medical care and no possibility for future. It is a shame but this is life. The good still that people coming to visit this lonely church and bell tower. I can imagine people believe in wishes and hoped that they come truth.

White Birch trees are always magnificent, in my opinion. When they have leaves, there's the stark white with the green branches, somehow life coming from something that looks dead. When the autumn comes, and the leaves turn red, the trees look like they're on fire! And then in the winter when there's no leaves at all, they are hauntingly bare and quiet.

It looks like it was quite the spiritual journey. The next time you go, you'll know the proper way to make your wishes so you don't end up in the water yourself. Or maybe take bigger coins. Either way, it was cool to get a glimpse into that part of the world. Thanks for braving the cold, the water, and the trees!
